Does Anyone Know any Asian Characters?

Can anyone help me figure out what this is? I have an antique figurine that looks like it's of Asian design, but can't figure out what the character means on the bottom. Does this look familiar to anyone?

No chance you can get a picture of it? It just looks like pi to me, and I've taken 1.5 years of college japanese and four years of high school chinese.

I'm pretty sure it's not Japanese (at least, the way it's drawn), and I'm kind of doubtful it's Chinese too. You'd better hope not, because you'd be sifting through a whole lot more characters than HTRN's link has

It might be the artist's signature. My girlfirends signature in chinese looks like a big scribble...
