I like it. I subscribe to multiple magazines, and don't put all my faith is the reviews of only one. But I have to say it's one of the better ones. At least every isssue isn't "Ten Ways To Make Your Computer Faster". (First one being defrag). Edit: you're only talking 3 bucks a year anyway (without CD). See this sticky: http://forums.pcapex.com/deals_and_s...or_1_year.html Last edited by prime-evil; 15-February-06 at 03:46 PM.

| "PC World", "PC Magazine"...These two are at the end of the road with me.....way too much re-hashing of the same 6 articles. Official Playstation, PC Gamer, Smart Computing, and Maximum PC. I used to get Extreme Tech. But they went belly up and the unused portion of my subsciption went to...you guessed it, one of the first two. Oh Joy. | ||

| Maximum PC is a good mag. I used to subscribe but don't anymore. There is an annual cycle of issues and once youve been thru the first cycle you've got good information even if the part numbers change. And I don't have any money so I was never gonna buy any of those pretty things anyhow. CPU? I read the first few issues and was unimpressed. Sounds like they've stepped up. Wired? Can be the greatest magazine on earth. When one of their writers has a "good day", it's freakishly awesome in the best possible way. Like watching Edwin Moses in his prime just dominate everyone in the 400m hurdles. But that doesn't happen every issue. Or even every other issue. Maybe I'm just picky. -MF | ||

| I used to go crazy with magazines, subscribing to nearly every US PC mag I could find, reading every one from cover to cover as soon as I got it and waiting impatiently for new ones to come out. At times I got so hard up I'd find myself buying european mags when I ran across a good newsstand. Once I got a bit more into PCs and understood what was going on more completely, the magazines seemed to be as a few here have stated...just rehashes of the same old stuff. I also got tired of how much bulk the magazines took up over time until I got so many I had to burn them in a pile out in the yard. As far as I'm concerned, the few subs I have left can run out, and I may pick up a mag from the newsstand occasionally...but only if it's interesting. Just about all the info can be found online, doesn't build up into towers of paper waste, is 3 months more current...and is free. | ||

| I like MaximumPC. Their articles are well written and it was thanks to them that I discovered the Stacker 830 case. Popular sicence isn't terribly bad either, but it isn't much of a PC mag. Car and driver is always good, although I like Motor Trend as well . I don't pay for any of these mags... you want to know my secret? Well I go to my local Barnes and Nobles and read the mags there. Sometimes the Maximum PC magazine is sealed in plastic, but I just go into the elevator and rip the plastic off . Whatever I am 20 and still have my whole life ahead of me....I have never read every single article of MaximumPC. Usually the benchmarks and some of their product reviews interest me the most. I am a suscriber to PC Wiorld and Computer Shopper. I have to say that Compluter Shopper just full-blown sucks a**. They have no in-depth product reviews and no benchmarks. Don't suscribe to COmputer SHopper. | ||

| I read MaximumPC, too, although I don't subscribe to it so I miss some issues. I like their writing style, but I have found I am starting to dislike their reviews. I rembember they were comparing Hard Drives in a recent issue and the Maxtor was the clearly the fastest, but they still chose the WD Caviar because it's a great value or something NOT because of it's performance, which was close, but still not there. I thought they are all about Maximum performance, but this one here threw me. | ||

agreed, maximum PC is a great mag, but as you pointed out fire hawk, they are running out of ideas, haha remember the recent article that compares liquid cooling to air cooling ?
