| They kinda turned the whole exterior into stainless steel... Flood+steel= rust, Flood+stainless steel= boat... On a sunny day, these things produce glare waaaaay above "bling-bling" (with sunglasses and car window tint, it still hurts to look at it)... It has enough space for 23 people to sit on (3 in front, 20 in the back)... ... And don't worry folks, the actual Willy's "MacArthur" type jeep you see here is kept in pristine condition, just wanted to show how some people modded a weapon of war into something useful for peacetime... | ||

| Just because there was question about Willy's Jeeps I'll run down the ownership of "Jeep" rights Origonal General Purpose vehicle with a 1/4 ton rating was designed by Bantam for the US Gov during the pre-WWII when the US Army released a challenge to all US automotive designers to create a 4 wheel drive vehicle capable of being lifted by two men. Because of WWII demand for these vehicles, the plans were given to Willy's Overland and Ford Motor Corp, the US Government shafted Bantam, leaving them only with contracts to produce trailers during the war, Bantam shortly closed. Side note, a WWII era Jeep that has "Ford" in script on the back is worth tens of thousands of dollars. Willy's claimed rights to "Jeep" but first vehicle line produced with the name Jeep embossed on the windshield was the CJ-2A because of questions regarding legal right to the name "Jeep" Later sold Kaiser. Next owned by AMC. Then Chrysler Corp whom still owns legal rights to Jeep when it agreed to purchase the civilian AMC production. (AMC military subsection went to General Motors, which included the American Motor's Humvee) Now back to being on topic. I like it, but I also hate it in terms of good examples of WWII being unrestorable now. ![]() | ||
