| That little prick aint in his right mind. ![]() It is sad that some people still want to deny the hard facts of the Holocaust. There is a guy I work with who thinks that the Holocaust is a myth. He is not a Jew hater though. He just does not believe that 6 million Jews were systamaticaly murdered by Hitler. He is not a muslem either. He is just a weird fellow. | ||

This may be politically incorrect, but I cannot wait, and only pray I live long enough for the entire world's dependency on oil produced products to end! Once that independency is achieved, the Muslim nation can be allowed to return to the wonderful society they were "unwillingly" dragged kicking and screaming from. That is to say, without the oil export market they will be penniless, forever doomed to be riding around on camels, herding goats and living in a beit al-sha'r (typical Bedouin tent made from the hair of goats and sheep). Just the way they like it. The three major exports from the Arab world: Oil, Pistachios and Hatred. Not necessarily listed in order of magnitude. The Middle East forgets that they owe a large part of the advancement of their society to the West's "interference": "William Knox D'Arcy, a British subject, obtained a concession in 1901 to drill for oil in western Iran. Financed by a British syndicate, his crew made the first major oil strike in the Middle East in 1908. The initial discovery was in the Masjed-e Soleyman field, the first of many fabulous Middle East reservoirs. The next year the D'Arcy group formed the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC), which became Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC) in 1935 and British Petroleum in 1951. The first shipment of oil from the Middle East was made by APOC in 1912 from Abadan, on the Shatt al-Arab, still a major oil center. Further development was limited until World War I, when events proved the superiority of fuel oil over coal for firing boilers on naval vessels and commercial steamers. The demand for oil spiraled upward and has never ceased." Being the devil's advocate, the Bedouin lifestyle is already pretty rare in many muslim middle eastern countries, believe me, I have been there. Most of the population has turned towards an urban lifestyle. Countries like Pakistan and Egypt are devolping their industry and technology and relying less on oil and more on intelectual property. Pakistan is becomming a force to reckon with when it comes to software development (like India already is) and Egypt has the market cornered on cotton and textiles. Let's see where this discussion goes from here ![]()

I believe you, and you're correct, I shouldn't have worked that into my post. I was simply just looking for the Arabic word for "tent", and then defined the meaning/orgin of that word. My error. At any rate, what I am trying to say, is that although all these nations would eventually develop technologically on their own; just as "no man is an island" neither is a nation. A society can be impacted both positively and negatively by it's neighbors. To benefit from trade with a foreign nation, and then at the same time despise those people who are in effect your business partners and your customers doesn't seem logical or beneficial to anyone, including the Muslim people. But yes, let's see where this goes. Thanks PD, for the correction! Last edited by prime-evil; 14-December-05 at 12:57 PM..

| Losing the oil market to renewable fuel sources would still put one hell of a dent in their ability to secretly fund terrorists. As for the software industry and the textile industry, the western world doesn't need too much, if any, Middle Eastern participation to allow for a comfortable global and regional balance of supply and demand since many other more amicable nations can provide such commodities sans the antisemetic bulls***. Also, if my encyclopedia is correct, the Jews were in Jerusalem first and it was the predecessors of the Muslim world (Babylonians and Syrians) and the Romans and later the Crusaders that invaded, conquered, and pilfiered that land after David and Solomon had claimed that land first. | ||

| Can't wait for reliable & efficient nuclear fusion.... http://www.iter.org/index.htm So we can leave the oil & natural gas (or what's left of it) in the ground... TDR | ||

| Well, I wouldn't say leave the oil in the ground. I'd say buy oil from local fields or from places not related to the Middle East for use in certain ploymers, I believe that some important plastics can be traced back to crude oil. You also have to hope for either electric powered cars or hydrogen powered cars. | ||

| If this crap is taught to Iranian children then that would leave the rest of the world the unforntunate task of separating all Iranian children from their parents and subjecting them to a carefully designed learning environment free of extremist, antisemetic, or terrorist influences and releasing them after their parents either die or lose the ability to pass on their crap ideas. | ||

Thank you for your kind words. Not many people know about Pakistan and most of them believe it is a poor country with no infastructure. The opposite is true since we have a growing middle class and a shrinking lower class. Our economy has a 7% growth rate and exports are doubling if not tripling! The IT market is also growing as companies like netsol and nespek are moving in. It's a amazing time to be in Pakistan thanks to the social reforms that have occured! This is truely the best time to be a Pakistani! You can check out this subforum for some news on this economic growth! http://www.pakcafeforums.com/index.php?showforum=12 Anyways, on subject Iranis do not like their government! Sadly only the fanatics run so they have to pick the guy who is the least fanatical. Hopefully the US wont bomb them and let the citizens take care of the crap by themselves! This is the true idea of democracy is it not?

Its definately true, do you really think theyll do something though? The people of Iran have seen alot of crap in there day, just like the people of Iraq, lets be serious though, do you think theyll do anything after so many years of oppression? The people of Iraq wouldnt do anything because thats all they knew. They didnt know things could be different for them, so why should they do something? Thats when humanity should step in and help our neighbors, not ignore there problems. If you noticed your neighbor was burying bodies in his backyard and you didnt see the rest of his family again would you say something or try and notify someone? Its too bad that the rest of the world wont pay attention to the oppressed parts of the world, and try to lend a hand otherwise maybe it wouldnt be up to Great Britain, USA, France, and other nations. Than who would Al Queda fight......themselves. /rant

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is first & foremost a politician. He has much of the western world wary of Iran because they want to develop nuclear capability. The historical enemies of the Islamic extremists - Israel, North America and the western European nations - already have this nuclear capability so he's feeling more than a little vulnerable and insecure right now. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of the population of Iran does not hate the west or Israel any more than the general populace of Iraq did. Ahmadinejad is trying to pull a Hitler by generating a more widespread hate among his population using propaganda like this. The downside is that just like Hitler and Germany prior to WWII, he will swell his ranks with a large portion of the population that really doesn't know better. Those people may still be in a minority, just as the Nazis were back then, but they will listen to what their leader has to say and will swallow this garbage hook, line & sinker. When that happens, there may very well end up being be a war with Iran & Iran's allies. Very sad ![]() | |
