Question how long after a url has been de-activated can it be signed up with another registrar

The situation is that one of my domains expired yesterday, although i submitted a transfer request to another registrar weeks before the expiry date.

The current registrar denied the transfer claiming that i did not approve the transfer, but i never received any notification to do so. Subsequently, they just bought time till it has expired and thus now say that cause its expired that its too late and i have to renew with them or lose it altogether.

What i want to know is, since its expired yesterday, and if i dont accept their renewal offer, when can i just sign up to the new registrar with my old url???

Thanks

depends on a wide range of factors - the site may have been removed due to restrctions being ignored and may have criminal relations, or it could be someone has the domain on hold, or cant afford to keep site on there for a time...

I dont think he is talking about a host as much as just the "Domain" name.. which I cant say how long before you can register it again. But.... The company may maintain it for a while yet to try to get you to buy it back from them..... but.... The thing is most registrars have an option set by default to block or reject transfer requests...

I would look over there TOS and Policies and see if you can find a loop hole. It may be that they should have gave you a warning to the Transfer attempt or something to that effect that you can say "You all screwed up and I want my domain" If you get tough on them and stand your ground you may just win them out..... After all.. What have you got to loose... They already have your domain....

Good luck with it man..
