Exclamation Nvidia buys ULI...WTF???

Where did this come from?

For a very small $52M, ULi is being swallowed up by Nvidia as quickly as they consumed 3DFX. Its news to everyone - especially as ATi now SiS to run to for cover.

For the time being ULi will sell as per norm - they're chipsets make for good performance on the K8 end of things, and Nvidia will at least get a decent insight into this.

LINKAGE HERE.

The old addidge - and then there were 3.

Yes - Contrary to ATi's common belief that they aren't up for sale, there are many buyers waiting with cash, including Intel and AMD. Rumours are boosted for this topic as ATi's recent series of chips had numerous delays, problems and difficulties before release..I mean err paper release.

I would love to see ATI get bought out by AMD, rather than INTEL. Intel dominates enough of the market already...

I remeber reading the Review of the new ULI board..

I dunno why everyone thinks ATI is going down the tubes just because they were late with the X1000 series. The R520 had a bug that they couldn't find...so what? It happens. The R580 is still on track to come out on time, with NO bug.

Don't forget that ATI had to dump most of it's resources into the Xbox 360. That didn't help the PC sector much.

this is bad news for ATI board partners that are using ULi's southbridge with ATI's northbridge...ATI needs to roll out SB600 ASAP since everybody knows SB450 is garbage in today's motherboard market
