Default Best. Movie. Ever.

The fiance and I saw The Chroniclse of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe last night, and I have to say....this was the best movie I've seen in quite awhile. I may be a little biased because I absolutely love C.S. Lewis' books, but this really was one of, if not the, best movie I've seen all year.

I have never watched a movie that stayed so true to the book that it was adapted from. I really can't think of anything that they left out. They semi-changed a few events to give them a little more excitement but nothing too drastic, and nothing that deters from the story as a whole.

If you have kids, this is a perfect movie to watch. If you loved Lord of the Rings, you'll love this movie. If you love Harry Potter, you'll love this movie. And yes...if you understand the life of Jesus Christ (forgiveness, teaching, and sacrifice) you'll love this movie. I don't agree with using an evangelism tool that people must purchase, so I'm not going to evangelize here at all (never do, never have, never will).

This was just a phenomal movie in all respects. Could the child actors be a bit better, sure...what movie doesn't have the problem. But the story more than makes up for any shortcomings in any actors abilities.

The emotion that the animals portray, especially the squabbles between Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, and Aslan the Lion's eyes are excellent. In many respects they are more "real" than many real life actors acting today.

The good thing with this movie, is that you really don't have to read the books to enjoy it fully. Though, I do recommend to anyone that hasn't, that you go out and read them. They are exceptionally good, simple reads, and tell a powerful story. Plus, they are at the most, a little over 200 pages for one; so they are very quick reads as well.

*Hoping they make the "first" in the series into a movie - The Magician's Nephew* You have NO IDEA how much I want to see the Narnia creation story portrayed on film.

Ok, end of my super-biased review

For those that have seen it, and those that wish to...voice your thoughts! I'd love to hear them!!!

Id like to see the first one made also. It would explain to alot of people that have just seen the movie why the Witch is there in the first place......damn professor.

I know. The Magician's Nephew is my favorite in the series.

The only real "qualms" I have with the current movie is that Aslan nor the Witch are as "big" as I expected them to be. But, regardless...the movie was spectacular.

I read a review that gave the movie 1.5 stars...and I was very wary...but after seeing the movie I've come to the conclusion that the reviewer had never read the books...at all. He criticized the movie for the portrayal of Santa in the film....though he served the EXACT same purpose in the book...what he gave...and who he left out giving a gift to...

Sorry, tried to make that as vague as possible...lol

Without giving away any spoilers...this is an excellent movie. Even without knowing the history of Narnia, it was easy to follow and understand. The good characters are good and the bad ones are bad. You're told the witch is bad, she looks like a bad witch, and she acts like a bad witch. The beaver family looks good, they act good, guess what...they're good.

This movie is suitable for people from the ages of teens through hundreds.

Comparing this movie to Lord of the Rings. If you haven't read LotR and watched the movies...it probably took a while to catch on to the movie. However, with The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, pre-reading the books is not necessary to follow the movie.

Mmm... I can't remember how long its been since I read the book, but I really didn't enjoy this film that much.

Yeah, its an enchanting story, just not one that looks good on the big screen in my opinion.

There were some funny bits in it, and I agree that the animation animal characters were very good, but it just lacked something... kinda got the feeling it would have been much better suited to TV if you know what I mean.

It may be that the books are so fresh in my mind (just read them for the first time about 2 months ago or so..) and I loved the books. Its turned into one of my favorite book series of all time. And I love C.S. Lewis' work as well. So, like I said...I may be a bit biased, but i still thought this movie was wonderful.

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I definitely agree with you...the animal animations in this movie are top notch .

Some things seemed a little "hokey" and didn't fully "blend" the CGI elements into the RL scenery as well as it can be done. But, if they make more (god I hope they do) they'll have a little extra spending money the next go 'round. I believe its almost over 70 million dollars that its garnered so far.

The child actors could've been a bit better. Sometimes the CGI animals were more "believable" with their acting than the kids who played Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. But, what the hey

I remeber the ORIGNAL movie that was shown sometime when I was growing up (back when I was ages 5-10?)

All I remeber is some kids walking into a closest, finding a lion or something and defeating either the lion or the witch...

EDIT Found it came out in 1988 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094500/

How the hell can I remeber that if I was born in 1987? I cant, I must have saw it when I was 5. when you are first born up to 3 years you cant remeber much due to mylination, which is the lack of nerve cells (also, connections are still being made in the brain)

Off-topic, I know, but ...
