Default WARNING! Heavy duty stuff

For those that are up for a challenge, check this out:

http://www.comsol.com/showroom/apparea.php?category=457

It's a company that makes a program that solves a VERY large (and diverse set) of problems (partial differential equations, or PDEs for short) used in many many many different industries.

The link posted above deals specifically with cooling of electronic devices (e.g. they have an example of a single resistor there).

Fairly interesting if you ask me (no surprise to most). I understand that this isn't your "average" read, hence the warning. I hope that it will lead to greater awareness and appreciation for electronic and micro-thermal management.

*sidenote*
I'm still working on learning to "perfect" conjugate heat transfer (CHT) problems. With any luck, hopefully I'd be able to finish solving/figure out how to set up the analysis by the end of this calendar year.

Although their approach for cooling a memory module array with a segregated method is fundamentally sound for a non-isothermal flow, one thing stuck out in my mind:

You said "conjugate"... Heh heh...

Lol not to brag, but thats easy reading for me

If you want a real headache, go read the physics of blackholes..I remeber finding the one page on the net I didnt understand, and holy crap was it complicated.

That may be true until you have to modify/tweak the transport equations. (And yes, you can actually go into edit the 2nd order PDE matrix with your own equation. It literally made me sick to my stomach here when I was sitting through the demo.)

Pretty cool program though. Using is obviously a heck of a lot easier than developing it or tweaking it.
