Question Help with price estimate?

Just looking for your thoughts on a fair price. I'm planning on selling these parts to a cash-strapped friend of mine who has a baby on the way. He may play some older games on it, but for the most part, it'll be a web/office PC, maybe some Photoshop. Right now he's got a P2.

So in your view, what'd be a good grand total for all this?
  • Athlon XP T-Bred "B" 2100+
  • Abit AN7
  • 1GB (2x512) Kingston HyperX PC3200 (CH-5 chips, 2-3-2-6 @ DDR400)
  • Gainward GeForce4 Ti4400 GS
  • 36GB Raptor
  • Thermalright SLK-900U, with 80mm Enermax speed-adjustable fan

To help drop the price for him, I could always substitute my old Thermalright AX-7; and sell the HSF, RAM, and HDD to someone else on here or eBay... (I'm trying to raise money for my Opteron upgrade)

Thanks in advance for your input!

to be fair, and the main stuff you want to sell to him (CPU, Mobo, VC) are pretty old. I think a fair price would be somewhere between $115-140 being that they are used. Throw in the RAM, HS/F, and Hard drive, i'd bump it to just over $200.00. But thats just me. Don't know how much money you want to "make" out of it.

Thanks; I appreciate the input! As you say, the core stuff is pretty old, so I wouldn't feel right about charging much for it ($100-$200 range). Still undecided as to whether to sell some of the parts separately; they may be worth more on their own than as part of a three year old system.

That's what I would do. A web machine doesn't need ram or a hard drive like that. I however do. PM me if you end up doing that.

yea 150 to 200 depending on the friend meter.

And a raptor too? If he's running a P2 now he may not notice a diffrence in speed
between a raptor and a 7200 rpm drive.

But that would be a good selling point. "And for a few $$ more I'll throw in a RAPTOR!"

For a friend $200. That's about 1/2 price or a little better if you'd try to buy them new today. A lot more if you can use them to repair some computers as the local guru in your area.
