I play a little guitar, but much more bass guitar. My band is actually playing in a benefit concert this saturday.

You should listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughn, he's up there for guitar gods.

I already do . Ever heard of Steve Vai? He's pretty amazing, too.

Great about the gig... i'm not actually in a band yet. I have all the resources, just not the time to set up any gigs.

Finally a music thread!! (i have another one i started in the premium pimp lounge if you're a member...)
i am also a bass player rather than a guitarist...but i agree with all the guys you said! Also on my short list....John Petrucci. the guitar god in dream theater...absolutly incredible. Also check him out in the greatest jam band ever... Liquid Tension Expiriment!! Another favorite of mine is mark knopfler...no explaination should be nescessary...

I play, have done for about 4 years now.

I have a white Fender Strat, Dreadnought Epiphone Acoustic, Fender Spanish Acoustic, Ashfield Small bodied steel string and my beautiful baby, my Ibanez DTX.

I can do Van Halen style finger tapping on that thing all day

And if I remember correctly, it was Satriani who taught Vai how to play. I could get lost in a SRV CD for hours just appreciating the riffs and amazing music he made.

I pick a little guitar, but it's my eldest son who is real good. He plays a Epiphone Les Paul and Fender StageMaster. He also has a Yamaha Bass that he uses to play for his High School Jazz Band.

He's got about $42 laying around and still owes the old man another $150 for the Epiphone.

Ah yes, the holy axe.

I've got a few in my collection, in fact I also have an Ibanez... one of the Gio GRX40JC models. It's nothing incredibly outrageous, but it jams.

Like AlkalineOmen, I play way more bass than electric guitar. I've got a Johnson 5-string that I've trashed on for about 5 years now and I have that running through a Digitech BP-200 bass pedal. I also have an Ibanez 4-string that has some sweet twang in it, and a Fender fretless JazzBass, but I'll always prefer the ground rumbling 5th "B" string on my cheapie Johnson over the Ibanez or Fender... call me crazy.

Ooh, can't forget the Morgan Monroe 4-string acoustic bass guitar that I bought for traveling around. Guitars are my second passion next to computers.

Bass here as well. Had a very successful local band for a long time. Started playing in the late 60's.
Play some blues guitar but nothing too fast, the old mitts don't move that well anymore. I wish I had more time to really get back into it.
Lead guitar-wise, I'm a big fan of the old Jeff Beck stuff, Leslie West, Hendrix, Page and Santana.
All kinds of neat axes lying around the house. All pre-1970 Gibsons mostly.
Matter of fact, an old band mate and I are checking out a Mountain concert April 26 in White Plains NY. It'll be good to see the fatman at work again!

haha damn we have a lot of bass players here... i play too. I have a 1996 fender american deluxe 5 string jazz bass, fretless the way god intended. Like the greatests bass player of all time jaco pastorius said, frets are speed bumps, they only get in the way.

I went to a vai show last year BTW, it was amazing. His bass player Billy Sheehan pretty much rocks my world too. great show.

Bass players are few and far between around here.

I moved to uni hoping to form a band at some point, realised pretty quick after getting here that one guy is a studying music production, another is a drummer from a well established Welsh hardcore band, but no bassists

When are we gonna start posting piccies of our beasts?!
