Nov. 11, 2005 — Squirrels can be very vocal animals, as backyard and park observers know, and now scientists have translated some of their squirrel-speak.

OMFG THEIR GONNA FIND OUR BROADCASTS AND DECIPHER THEM!!!!
This is going to ruin my plans to take over the world.
I am of course refering to this article.

I knew I was asking for trouble when I clicked on this thread.... Now for the REAL question at hand... how much of taxpayer's dollars went to fund this "discovery"?

The discovery was made at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. So it's Canada's tax dollars at work.

Of course squirrels speak! Where do think how Foamy the lord and master gets it from? Chemical X? (Wait, that's Pillsy and the Hatta)

I couldn't resist that one, because spending money for research on decoding a rodent's speech is Monty Python-class silly.

So let me get something straight.....

There are people out there dying from cancer, people are dying from AIDS, there's people who go to bed hungry at night because they have no food, and there's money being spent on decoding squirrel speak......

We could use this technology to find a cure for cancer, but instead, we're decoding what squirrels say....

Is this the same scientists that determined that male mice "sing" to attract a mate?
