| Ok guys(and gals). I honestly am sorry for the way i have been acting as of late. I have been very harsh towards some members here, and I am truley sorry for this. But i have a question for you guys. Turbopsi is staying with me right now, and i need to find him a good job. He was living in this little town with no opportunities, and i took him in to try and "jumpstart" his life. Now that he is here, ill be damned if i can think of a good job to start him off with. Sure there is plenty of fast food places, but comeon-----that sucks. Theres also alot of computer stores around here, but none of them are hiring. So i ask of you guys-----do you have any ideas? I'm fresh out.....seeing as ive been in the air force for a while, and haven't had to look for a job..... | ||

| I'm 19, and have a Computer Electronics Technology certification, and a Networking Support certification from a local Technical School in Perry... I also have about a years experience in accounting.. I think the Best Buy/Circuit City idea is a kickass idea.. that would be a great place to start from. Hopefully I can get hired.. ![]() | ||

Yeah, man! Go for it. Just fill out an application online, and maybe you'll be lucky and get a call back in the next couple days for an interview.

Another good place *seein as your on the comp anyhow * is craigslist in your area. they have a jobs section. Now that i know your area of work based knowledge i have to agree , FRY'S COMP USA *dont tell anyone i recomended that one lol * and any of the major stores that deal with computers and electronicsRadio Shack , Sears , etc etc........... also dont rule out places like IBM, INTEL etc etc . Just because your young or dont have 20yrs in the industry they can only say 'NO" and its just a couple sheets of paper your losing by handing out a resume so print out a TON of them and keep a couple handy if your out and see a place take five minutes and hand one in ............... you never know who might be needing your help ![]()

| Yeah, check with Radio Shack, too! I got an interview there, during this group hiring session or whatever, which explained a lot about the company. If you're good with people, you'll make a killin' there because you work on commission (in some locations, otherwise you get 'team commission' where everyone makes money off merchandise sold), and have potentially sweet earnings. But, don't sell yourself short by these dime a dozen department and chain stores, apply at places you may think, "Why would I apply there? I have no shot at getting a job!" Sometimes things can turn around for you, I can speak from experience. In just a longshot application at Best Buy for the Geek Squad, I'll be making about three dollars more per hour, plus bonus checks, for something I basically applied for as a joke sort of thing because my friend was applying. So, look around, and if the newspaper in your area is anything like the one in mine, you can view the classifieds online, which will make it easier and faster to search for jobs. I don't know how I feel about places like Monster.com and the other clones, I'd just stick with local places. These people put ads out looking for people in your area, so you have a good chance at finding a job somewhere near your house. As a man who's applied at numerous places of different types and levels, and interviewed in so many different situations, I can tell you to never sell yourself short. Apply everywhere that's accepting applications, and even places like IBM and whatnot who might not be, apply anyway! It's not a bad thing if you apply and they just look over your application, maybe they have a positioning opening up that you'd be perfectly fit for! Best of luck in your job hunt! Be sure to show up dressed nice to both the application or resume processes, and be sure to dress extra nice during the interview. During my interview at Best Buy, I was complimented by the computer department head and the store manager on my attire (slacks, button-up shirt and tie which I learned how to tie on the Internet about an hour before my interview ). First impressions really do stick, and your appearance and cleanliness are two of the first things noticed. Anywho, I was just killing some time before getting off work, figured I'd elaborate a little more on the subject. If you need any advice on anything else, the pimps here would be glad to help, and shoot me an IM or a PM if you need anything from me personally. Best of luck, brother! | ||

| I don't know what area you're in but the aero-space industry is very strong these days. Yeah, it's manufacturing but perhaps you can get in and try to move over to one of their IT areas later. Even if you stay in manufacturing the pay in aero-space is real good, and usually very secure. | ||

| A couple of other ideas. Schools. Most schools are in need of someone for their networks / labs. ISPs need people to answer the phones. Best Buy/Circuit City have already been mentioned. H&R block....electronic filing. Local government building (City hall)...though this would be a tough you to get. Police department. you wouldn't be a cop, but you'll rub elbows with them. Using monster.com and the newspaper helps, but a lot of places will not advertise job openings. | ||

| Wow, some very good advice coming from you all. Even though I have no clue what DW is talking about....lol... I've already just rode a bike all over and applied for places, like movie stores, fast food places, ace hardware, etc.. I think I'm going to do what you guys said, try to apply for something I like, like best buy or circuit city, maybe a government IT job, or something. Getting a job as a burger flipper would make me feel like I wasted my time in school, and all the hard work I did... I would be much happier with an IT job of some sort, but I just need a job asap so I can help these guys with rent and support myself. I can always just quit once I find a good job. Today I'm going to try the other side of town, Lwrs10 said there was some computer stores that way.. I don't even know where everything here is yet.. I looked online at Myflorida.com for some jobs, that's why I went to ACE hardware and stuff, they are hiring for cashiers, etc. Most of the IT jobs needed like 4 years experience and some sort of big certification, which I don't have yet... But I'm sure there is a good job waiting for me somewhere. You guys are really giving me hope. I might have to get stuck with a crappy job until I can find the perfect one. Once I get Ator's 93 stang I can definatly go job hunting more effectively, and search larger distances. Oh well, wish me luck guys, and thanks for all your comments!! ![]() BTW, the traffic here is horrible, especially riding a bike.... it's kinda scary, especially trying to cross and intersection... the damn crosswalk doesn't help at all... | ||

Napoleon Well, nobody's gonna go out with me. Pedro Have you asked anybody yet? Napoleon No, but who would? I don't even have any good skills. Pedro What do you mean? Napoleon You know, like numchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills. Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills. Pedro Aren't you pretty good at drawing, like, animals and warriors and stuff? Napoleon Yes. Probably the best that I know of. Pedro Just draw a picture of the girl you want to take out, and give it to her for, like, a gift or something. Napoleon That's a pretty good idea. Starting to ring a bell yet?

| i hope you get a job soon, you really have a lot of potential. I am trying to get a job here as well in my area.. I am just lucky I have lived here before for six years. Good Luck, and I know you will do well, keep an open mind and apply everywhere you can. Even if u start out with not the greatest job... a job is better than no job and u can always look for better ones. | ||
