I lately seen people (not saying any names) have bad reputations and some have turned to banned, but I have seen what they say helpful and non-vulger... Can anybody explain this to me?

from what i have seen .. it only takes a couple of threads where a flame war starts, to kill a persons rep.

in a nutshell. dont flame some one who is helping you. dont flame a noobie. and dont make an ass of your self and you should be fine...

ya some are ok after abit, but wether your a nice guy or a bad guy and u go and tell an admin to f off, or go screw people even if u got 5 green bars your still gone.. its that one tihng that usualy does it.

I don't see you getting neg rep or getting banned.. only thing that does that is if you try something stupid, say too much off the wall crap, or DEFINATLY if you insult a moderator...

I have been here for years and have not gotten any bad rep yet. Just act like you would in real life and you don't have to worry about anything. A lot of people think on the internet they can act like a$$ holes and stuff. But what they don't understand is that just like in real life thats why they don't have any friends and have neg rep in the internet world...

Well everyone has a bad day. I've gotten 1 bad rep point for answering an opinion poll thread. Who'd of figured that. And I've gotten quite a few good rep points that don't count because the member fixed their machines and haven't posted again and/or often enough for their points to count. I think what comes around goes around. It all evens up in the end. I got my second green bar about the same time as other member's with my stat's.

I can't think of a case where a banned person didn't need to be banned. If somebody tells you to stop, stop, and don't do anything stupid (like scam or spam members). I've gone against the grain plenty of times and I don't remember getting a bad rep because I try to be respectful, humble, and I try to explain myself well. Neg reps aren't the end of the world. CubanConnections used to be in the reds.

If you felt you needed to make this thread, you're probably not reckless enough to earn a red bar. Relax

Good question. The bad rep gets a little out of control sometimes if someone hits a thread while suffering from anal-cranial inversion, but the people who can do the most damage usually use it sparingly.

Nobody, but nobody who has been on the forum for a while has been banned without being given a second (or third, fourth and fifth) chance. However, if someone hits the forum with a crapload of spam and attitude right off the bat, I won't even waste my time with them.

They are usualy eaten up by the members first, then disentigrated by the mods/admins (but that goes for spammers/trolls).

Theres an incdent on another forum I belong too, and I really wish they would be banned. This type of person is the type of person that doesnt know how to act properly on a forum. They are the type of people to Say, Goodebye or Im not wanted or anything along those attention whoring lines...But for some reason the Admin isnt around, although there is a mod. If that forum had the repping system, she would be so hosed by people, she wouldnt know what to do.

It really doesn get annoying and degrades YOURS and others forums Experience.

On the other hand, you get people who know $hit, and want to know about something illegal (person wanted to build a cell phone jammer..Comon now?)

Good point Nerdz, I hear so many times about how people come to PimpRig because they are so tired of the bull that goes on with other forums, and just wanted a mature place to talk about stuff.

And the only way is to have dedicated moderators that aren't afraid to kick some ass, and ban people. We are lucky enough to have several.

I cant agree more. Although most of the people myself included on this website are teenagers they are very mature for the most part. I was suprised when I first came here to find out that some of that some of the members were as young as they are. I thought a couple of them were way older. This is just an amazing helpful forum. Nuff said.

I think that the reputation thing and the moderating going around PimpRig is done very well - I have been to other websites' forums and cannot believe the utter stupidity some people decide to post (cough [L] cough)... and I just sit there, thinking "who the hell is running this place?". Then you come here and find out that kinda sh*t practically doesn't exist!

Think of the forum as something form the Tudor period -

If you get out of line, you'll have your hands/ears cut off.

If you take the leaders name in vain (or anyone of royality/aristocrosy) you will be punished with leaches and 1000 lashings of the whip at sunrise.

If thy swearest in an uncivilised manner, ye shall see hanging of thou'st own neck at dawn.

...and if ye shall think of England as a place where stores are called " Ye Olde Shoppe", ye shall be slapped with a large halibut, punged into a barrel of hot oil, and hung drawn and quartered in the public square at noone. Ye have been warned!

PR has a much lower flame-level than my old forums, thats why i prefer PR over all other modding forums. That and the very skilled regulars. Kudos to you all!

Some people with negative rep did something wrong when they first came here. Mouthed off, spammed the threads, asked for something illegal time and time again and smacked down. A couple of them have been working on adding to PR instead of taking away and their rep is slowly returning.

If someone gets banned, it's because it was justified.

As a general rule of thumb that I use; Is my post something I would say to you face-to-face? Yes, then I'll post it even if it goes against the norm. No, then I don't post it or rephrase it.

Yep, that happened to me when I raised opinions about America's foreign policy.....see my custom title. Not wanting at all the bring that sorry mess all back again, but BigAkita, could I have a proper title again?

One thing I've learnt is that if you're going to post something contraversial here, think first. Just cos it's ok to have that kind of opinion in Europe for example doesn't mean its ok here. And that's fine, I'm not complaining...but it just aint worth because of it, so think first.
