Question amd dual core processers

Im new here and am looking to build my first pc, Ive been told by a friend that you cant buy a operating system for the dual processers yet. Just want to know if thats true and if so why are they selling the chips and motherboards if you cant get an operating system yet?
Thanks for the help.

Expect T2 to be along somewhere soon, but welcome to PR.

Take your friend's hand and place it on the table. Then take a hammer and smash his/her fingers with the hammer.

If you are reffering to the dual core processors, which I assume you are, you just use your choice in operating systems, whether it be Windows or non-Windows.

Windows xp pro will support 2 cpu's so it will support one cpu with two cores. I think even home edition will support a dual core but I am not sure... Welcome to pimprig.

It looks like he got his info confused...the OS supports it, AND takes advantage of it, but not all software can multi-thread just yet.

BTW, welcome to Pimprig.
