Default Maximum PC... modder's mag?

I just got my latest issue of "Max PC"...seems it is now geared towards modders and tweakers... they've been headin' that way for awhile... but it seems they are runnin' more and more of this stuff every issue.

Between "30-tip Plan for a Perfect PC" and a ton of modding stuff like colored fans, rheobus(i...es?), and a some other spiffy stuff... I think modding has become more mainstream than ever...

I keep feelin' we'll be seeing a "pre-mod" Dell release here pretty quick...

Regardless... I'm still proud to say my "How to Tweak the Ever-Lovin' CRAP out of Windows XP" tweak-tips kicked the crap out of theirs (Who's yo' DADDY!")...

Maximum PC is what got me here at Pimprig.
It was Wixx's coffine machine interview in which he said that he introduced his mod at pcapex.com first.

So, I decided to try it out and I got here.
Who knew that thanks to Wixx, hundreds of users might of joined.

"I keep feelin' we'll be seeing a "pre-mod" Dell release here pretty quick..."

I dunno about that. Dell is pretty cheap comparing to the parts it uses. A pre-moded dell would cost more and it would cost dell money. This is why pre-moded computers such as Alienware, Falcon Northwest and Voodoo PC's are not as popular as dell in the home but are still in business today due to their excellence in giving out the most for a pretty good cost. Dell would never risk it.

Other than that. Maximum PC mag rocks, except I do not like the way Mr. Will Smith reviews items. He makes too much of himself. Blahhhh!

I just wish there was more content for my $7.99. LOL I can read the mag front to back in a hour. This leads me to the why I just dont subscribe to the mags I read every month. Does anyone else do that? Buy the same mag every month when and pay full price when they could get a subsciption for 19.99.

Actually, I signed up for a free subscription for Maximum PC about a month or so ago, and it looks like I got my first free issue.

I've read through bits and pieces of other issues, but now I'll soak up the free issues as much as I can

Well, buying a magazine for 7.99 when the subscription to maximum pc is only 12 bucks is just dumb.

Sorry mirage, just that you buy 2 magazines for the price of 12.
I read MaximumPC cover to cover as well. But I try to take my time cause I can be done with it in about an hour to an hour and a half. I tend to read a few reviews one day and read the question anwsers based pages another day.

Speaking of mainstream pre-mods, the other day at Radio Crap I turned to see a comp complete with:

window
blue cc
silver mesh rounded cables
volcano 9 with cool mod

I thought to myself, "OMG 18 months ago we were 500 idiots with dremel tools, now the basic early mods are stock at Crap Shack!"

Hard to believe!

MaximumPC is good, so is Computer Power User. CPU is really geared towards tech heads.

Nothing will every hold a candle to PC Accelerator though, I still have about every single issue they published. Sucked that they went under.

I have been buying MaxPc just about since it was released lol... And I must say the issue that came in mail today was pretty schw33t.... I really like the idea of the 13Ghosts case in the back but ... IMHO it could have been better :S but hey I am not in MaxPc (yet) so I have no room to be critical... but hellofa idea with the writing... one other thing.. I think they should devote a double page to the Rig of the Month to allow for better pics and more write up:S... Just my opinion..

They went under only because they spoke the truth about everything. Sucked they went under, I only subscribed 5 months before they went under. I recieved PC Gamer for the rest of the subscription.

I got to check out Computer Power User. Thanks for the info about it, never heard of it.

Good thing I found out about that $12 subscription before I paid full price. No reason to pay 30 bucks & have 12 new coasters lying around my apartment at the end of the year. You'd think they'd realize that most people who read their mag couldn't possible care less about whatever crap is on that disk & don't really want to pay for it.

while i was in australia, i found a magazine that absolutely smokes anything we got here...called AtomicPC, mind you this was roughly 3.5 years ago, and they already had an established group of modders/fans and the magazine even had its own case gallery...

but yeh pc accelerator was the SH!T until it went under, maximumpc is good and cpu is very informative, just too bad the internet is all of those things rolled into one plus you dont need a demo disc

Why spend money on mags that are dated by the time they are even in print, which is about 2 months before they are on newshelfs.

You can get whatever info u want online for FREE.

My guess would be because they want the magazine ... but all jokes aside.. I like to be able to take the mag with me where ever I want to... When I am on my Pc I have better things to do than search all over for info about whats new.. I just like soap opera women with there soap mags.. They can watch it all week but they still buy the soap mag because you cant watch all the soaps at once .....
