| Alrighty, For the past two days I've been trying to burn Mandrake 9.1 to CDs. This involves creating a CD from an ISO image. No big deal...or so I thought. I'm now in the business of making coasters. I've wasted so many disks because it wont burn right. This was no problem in my old rig, but in my new rig, it doesn't work. Here's the deal....I have a fist generation burner. It's a Sony Spressa purchased in 1998. It has worked flawlwessly until now. I'm using Apdaptec CD creator 4. The burner is set to the master on the seconday IDE. Windows 98. WD 60GB HDD. AMD 2200+ 512 Corsair DDR 3200, ATI expert 2000, SB audigy platnum. Any ideas or should I spend the 69 bux and buy a new CD burner? | ||

| Adaptec is really picky about drivers abd patches ...... if you just installed in a fresh system, I would start at: www.roxio.com | ||

| ive had pretty good luck with Roxio, but Putwig is right, it can be pretty picky about its driver, and CD-R support. I would try updatiing the drivers(if you can find them ) http://beta.driverguide.com/beta/ind...0=spressa&dp=3 And with the low cost of CD-RW's it might be time to put that current one out to pasture. | ||

| I use EasyCD myself, but it does have it's share of problems for sure..Been a long time since I used version 4 though. Are you using the same cd brand as you used to before? I've had problems with certain brands in the past. Also Newegg.com has a sale on the Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW for $47.00...If all else fails | ||

| Well, absolutely nothing has changed execpt for the fact that its in a new rig. The media is the same and the software is the same. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't move it form the secondary master to the primary slave. Maybe that would help. Who knows..... | ||
