| I, and almost every other college student in the UK, got A level results last Thursday. For those who know not of these A levels i speak of, they are basically the exams you take as an 18, maybe 17 year old, that basically decide your future. Most people who get decent A level grades go off to University, which is exactly what ill be doing in about 4 weeks time!! Yes, i passed, and not too badly either i might add! So im as chuffed as three farts in a biscuit tin right now, as i finally get to move out of my parents house and start studying something im gonna really enjoy, Cybernetics and Virtual Worlds. Im doing a three year course at Bradford University, including modules in programming (HTML, C++, Java, JavaScript, XML and Perl!!), Networking, Web design, e-business, robotics, electronics, mechanics and virtual reality. As well as meeting new people, gaining the knowledge to get myself a well paid and enjoyable job, having wild house parties and living in a culturally mixted society, im also hoping ill be able to contribute my knowledge to the PR community and become a more respected and helpful member ![]() Wish me luck! Over and out ![]() | ||

| Congradulation! Im currently in college mode now working with C and Unix. Man o man its tough. It has been one day and the professor tells us that 40% of the class will fail or drop out. That scares me. Just work as hard as you can thats my advice for you. There becomes a real change in thinking when you are paying for a class and text books, you realize that not only will dropping a class suck, it will cost you a lot. Good luck! | ||

I hear you JE, its been said to me many times by relatives and friends that those kinda jobs seem to be dying out, and as such, for those that take them up, the rewards are plentifull. However, i know i wouldn't be happy fixing u-bends and replacing fuses as a career, so the rest is self explanitory. Thanks guys for the best wishes ![]() Post_break, don't worry, i intend to work my ass off ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here in the UK, most people at University are studying for a BSc Degree, which is usually three years, but can be four years if you decide to take a year (usually between years 2 & 4) in an industry placement. Whilst looking damn good on your CV it usually means you need to play catch-up and study your ass off whilst working a normal 9-5 full time job. The U.S education system is bound to be different to ours here in the UK (for example, we wouldn't have let G.W Bush slip through j/k), so maybe its just the standard over here that our standard further education courses are 3/4 years where as further education in the U.S requires only 2 years. | ||
