| 4rm4g3dd0n's 1000th Hey guys its finally time for my 1000th post! I've been waiting a while (havnt posted for like 3 days) trying to decide what to post in my 1000th, but i think i have finally made my decision. This post is about How proud I am of my little sis.
My family seems to have a history of cancer. My grandma who i was very close to died of breast cancer in 1994 Years later my uncle developed an ultra rare form of cancer (forgot what its called) that is both in the bloodstream AND forms tumors (he lived thankfully). Then, when my sister was only 9 years old, she started getting sick. We were at yellowstone, and I remember it was my birthday. She got so sick on that vacation that she could not keep anything down at all, if she even drank a tiny bit of water she would throw it up within 60 seconds. It was bad. At the time I was younger and stupider and was kinda mad because I thought she was just trying to get attention (it was my birthday, and it was of course ignored, which it totally should have been given the circumstances, but thats hard to explain to an 11 year old). We took her to children's hospital in dallas, and they diagnosed her with AML leukemia, which is the kind usually found in adults (children who have leukemia almost always have ALL). The normal ALL treatment for a child that young spreads the chemotherapy out over a 2 year period, but because it was AML and because we caught it so late, she had to have 2 years of chemo in a 6 month period. That is VERY hard on a young body. She spent several days in ICU and was in such bad shape she couldnt walk or anything. I thought we were gonna lose her.
Fortunatley, she made it through and has been in remission for several years and is doing better than ever. She is now 17. The reason that I say that I am so proud of her now is that not only is she doing fine, she is going to run a full marathon to raise money for leukemia research. To me that is amazing. Only 8 years ago she was so sick she couldnt walk, and now she is running a marathon, which i could never even dream of doing and I've never even had to go to the hospital. I'm so proud of her!
My family has been trying to help her raise money, one of her best friends is gonna run with her, and they need to raise $5000 each for the leukemia and lymphoma society in order to run the Hawaii marathon. As of right now i believe that theyre 3000 or so short of their total (they have approx $7000 i think). If anyone has any ideas that I maybe havnt thought of to raise money, please share them, and I would like to ask everyone to keep her and her friend in their prayers as they try to raise the money and run the marathon (its pretty difficult for anyone, especially someone so young). Thanks for listening and thanks for letting me be a part of your community. I hope I can achieve several thousand more posts here.
g3dd0n out.
