Cool West Coast Choppers Bicycle

Huffy designed by Jesse James

The Ad slogan reads "Makin moms nervous and dads jealous"

Love the front fork and wheel hub design. Do you think it will fit my 6' 3 frame?

It would be fun to hang one from the ceiling in the workshop until my 1.5 yr old son is old enuf.

$149.99 at Walmart

I still like the Stingray and Spoiler better. And my custom Stingray > all 3. But nevertheless, still a cool little bike.

You've got to put one on the wall until your son can run it.

Man, Wal*Mart's eating up that WCC stuff!

A cool lookin' bike. I think I exceed the maximum weight limit on that, though!

And much like the new Stingray and for some, the Spoiler, it is impossible to ride.

Spoilers can be ridden, and I've thought about getting one, but they require little modification, like maybe ape hanger handlebars.

To my knowledge if I got the Spoiler for sale at the Schwinn bike shop I'd be the only one with a Spoiler in my county. But I'm already the only one probably in the whole state of Florida with a 26" Sting-Ray

Hey!
You gave away my secret ...

The rumors are true, and that is one reason I haven't been posting here as often. I'm sure some folks figured it out by clicking the link in my sig. Living up to the Biker portion of my nick, I have been getting back into bikes in a big way. I have two ongoing projects that are making use of my bicycle mechanic, woodworking and yes...even computer modding experience.

Bill, I would love to see what you could do with a custom bicycle. The WalMart bikes are only the commercial response to what has become a huge movement of homegrown custom bicycle fabricators. Of course, due to the popularity of chopper TV shows, choppers are the main focus, but there is room for HUGE amounts of creative alternatives. As gas prices continue to rise, I feel that we will see even more folks turning to bicycles not only as a great alternative form of transportation for short urban trips, but as a focus for their creative talents and need to express their individuality.

If you think about it, bicycle modding isn't a huge leap from computer modding. Many of the same techniques and skills are at use. Custom paint, metals and plastics fabrication, wiring for lighting systems, applying modularized components in new and visually appealing ways...it's all being applied across the board, and it is my personal feeling that all of it is tied together, indicative of our culture at large's strong appreciation for and resurging interest in the industrial arts.

EDIT: I'd like to add a link to the newest issue of Bike Rod & Kustom that NoSlak linked to before.

PS: It's true...I do pwn J-dogg....lollerskates! Seriously, J-dogg and I have been chatting a bit, and our mutual interest in bicycles only helps. J-dogg, respect brother. Keep pwning the roads on that Stingray....while you can...

Naw, you gotta come here, where there are these things called mountains that actually make cycling a challenge. Sea level? Pffft! I wanna see you sucking wind at 8000 ft elevation....
