| I use ZipZoomFly.com as the NewEgg alternative, or in other words: When I want my product to arrive faster. I'm looking around for an LCD (this one actually). From customer reviews, Newegg seems to be the best place to buy LCDs from. Most of their customers get no dead pixels, or in some cases just one unnoticable one in a corner. Only thing holding me back from buying from Newegg is the $12 shipping. How is ZipZoomFly's rep with LCD monitors and dead pixels? No customer reviews makes me suspicious. | ||

| zipzoomfly used to be known as googlegear and they also used to have a pretty good rep...I too have used them as an alternative to newegg (specifically when i got two dead dvd-rom's from newegg in a row from newegg). The only problem is that I've read a lot about their horrible customer service since the name change, even though it was supposed to be only a name change. They had great/quick shipping It just took a lot to verify that they actually had something in stock and when they've had past deals they don't live up to their sales. For instance when they blew out an ATI graphics card last year they accepted about 4 times as many orders than they had graphics cards before modifying the stock options and still haven't apologized, people were waiting for months. Newegg and others have better reps now then zipzoomfly for some pretty good reasons...customer service among others. My suggestion is to at least verify your options before making the purchase with zipzoomfly. Ask a representative on the phone (a knowledgeable rep BTW) what their policy is on dead pixels, and how they handle defective type returns. Don't rely on what their site says. And you should also understand that most retailers don't accept responsibility for dead pixels unless you REALLY REALLY whine about it, I would expect on line retailers to be less lenient. | ||

actually quite a bit, depending on the site or retail outlet they can accept responsibility and pay for shipping the deffective product back to them and replacement of said deffective product....if you ask me that's a bit much for a retailer to shoulder. The better the retailer the fewer exceptions they have to make to their already good rules in order to please the customer. The real blame game resides with the manufacturer of the product, only a hanful of companys make LCD for computer monitor use, the producers can chose which companies to deal with to make their monitors and in turn you as a consumer must also take that into consideration. Lets just say you'll have an easier time replacing the infrequent dead pixel on an LG monitor that you bought from Newegg as opposed to a generic brand you might find at ZZF.

| I indeed am looking for a 4ms LCD. Although from reviews, I hear that it's not such a big factor as much as the backlighting or actual response times between changes. I wonder if a rep would tell me the truth about their dead pixel reputation. Newegg speaks for itself, with its customer reviews. As for ZZF, I'd have to take their word on the average dead pixels on the monitors they sell. I'll have to do some more reasearch. | ||

And it's been killing their business, I've got two friends who work at costco and they say that their location looses inbetween 10,000 to 15,000 in electronics income each month because of returns like that. Costco is currently looking into a limited return policy so get while the getting is hot, deffinately worth it considering their current return policy...but I can't help but wonder what will happen to those who purchased under the current return plan and return under the revised plan. From a retail perspective I think it is the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Customers come in, I tell them the in's and out's of our return policy and they come back and say (smugly) "well I can return anything at costco no mater how long its been". And I'm thinking to myself, wow there must be some bitter Costco employee's and overly babied customers. A guy said to me, and i'm not kidding, 3 weeks ago as I was explaining the benefit of a AMD over an Intel processor for his computer that he'd just returned a 5 year old computer he'd purchased at a Costco for a full refund because it got viruses on it. My jaw hit the floor...WTF...the customer screws himself over 5 years later and they have to cave and refund/recycle/return the product because of shotty company policy? From a consumer perspective it is the golden grail of return policies. Just bitch and whine and moan until the manager of the Costco has to give in. Say you'll cancel your membership and you'll get your friends to do the same...etc. But having fixed computers and sold them at different times I feel guilty when I return something to costco having broken it myself instead of it suffering from a manufacturer deffect.

| Although this may sound strange, if I were in the market for an LCD right now the first place I would go is Dell. Their monitors have been garnering a crapload of awards, the response times are great, the brightness is best in the market, and if you can catch a sale or coupon you can get it at a reasonable price. To top it off they have 24/7 support and a good RMA program. I know about the RMA program because I stopped buying HP workstations for the office and started purchasing Dells. I haven't had but a couple of problems with the workstations, but they were handled easily and quickly. | ||

| Anyone here own the Dell 2005FPW? After the instant savings and code, it's cheaper than the 19" I was lookin at. Only thing I'm worried about is it working on my system. On the Dell website it says: your system must be able to support WSXGA+ resolution (1680 x 1050). Will 1600 x 1200 work alright? | ||

| I used Googlegear (ZipZoomFly) exclusively until they screwed me over a mobo RMA. After taking 1000's of my $$ they couldn't Replace a DOA mobo with a new one. Instead I got someone elses RMA'd mobo that was defective (opened box). I only buy from NewEgg now. There prices and shipping charges are usually cheaper and 75% of the time my order arrives early. NewEgg Rules, ZipZoomFly at your own risk. If your smart you'll ZipZoomFly right over to NewEgg. | ||

One unhappy customer is one too many, I think. I'd rather trust the store that has many more happy customers than risk getting a bad product and then have the possibility of getting screwed.
I'm guessing an x800 can display the same resolutions as my 9600pro, so if it works for them, it should probably work for me too.
