Default Extended Warranty

Do You buy the extended warranty when you purchase goods?

Too many times have I been asked "Do you want to get the extended warranty"
at the check out counter.

Depending on the item and the amount, I sometimes get the extra warranty
although rarely. 95% of the time I do not.

Only once have I been able to take advantage of a extended warranty.

So how often do you pay for what you may not need?

I usually void the warranty, regardless.

However, if I were buying a computer from Dell or something, I'd get the warranty with in-home service. Having that service is like owning a car and never having to pump your own gas or change your own oil.

I never purchase the extended warranties unless it's a very expensive item, or I think I may break it.

The only thing I've ever bought one for was my laptop. Most of the time they're a waste of money. Even if an item goes bad the cost of repairing or replacing it will probably be cheaper than the money you would have spent if you bought a warrany on everything.

I didn't get extended warranty on my laptop; and thank god I haven't needed it. In hindsight; I wish that I had, just for the peace of mind.

In general, if I would likely need repairs/replacement, and using the warranty wouldn't too much of a hassle (go to hell, Sears) then yes, if cheap enough, I'd get it.
