Default Are you behind the times?

In light of the recent posts by our newsbot, M$ Windows 2000 will soon be on it's way to the old OS home.

http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=47177

So I was wondering, how many of us still use 2000?

I've still got about 20 boxes at work running 2K. Slowly getting everything rolled over to XP.

Only at work! But then, all (several hundred) of our desktop machines at work are on 2000.

Moving to XP at work would be hard to justify. Win2K runs everything we need it to, does so stably, and the support staff knows it inside and out. Course, knowing my company, they'll wait till Longhorn comes out -- then they'll upgrade to XP!

My home PC's run XP.
The company I work for is still behind the times and only issue win2K machines.
IÂ’m guessing it's a licensing thing. With 10K++ of PCs in the field the cost of licensing them must be astronomical.

Both my main home computers run WinXP Pro and Suse 9.1 Home. I have an old Amstrad 486 running Windows 3.1 and another old machine running Win98 (very badly i might add...)

Even my old high school and college are running Windows XP Pro (Corporate probably) throughout the sites. Thats at least 700 machines, so i guess they're quite with the times too

And the logical follow up... should I wait for the steer to come out or should I upgrade to XP now?

I'm leaning towards XP, given M$'s history of problem free releases of new software.

Sick as it might seem, I wish I did have a PC with Win2K on it. I jumped from 98 to XP and skipped right over 2K, and now have machines with one or the other. For my own personal education, I'd like some experience with 2K, although it's not something I'm actively seeking. I do have a bit of experience with WinME...and I'm not shopping for a copy of that. I have also dabbled with Linux variants, but my skills with that are about equal to my skills as a midwife...

I'll stick with hardware and cutting stuff up.

I love 2000. Has never failed me but I say this running xp pro corporate.. I dont know why I switched but if I ever want to I could reformat any time My next box of bolts will get xp only because its 64 bit. (not sure if it matters but just to be sure). "XP is just too user friendly" ~I said that after being forced to run red hat for a month because the teacher wanted to be enlightened. I got as far as installing ut2k4 on the machine and he says "now lets put 2000 on it". Well I got a little side tracked there but my vote is for 2000 all the way.

Woot woot.

Ditto here. Got one P4 2.6 running 2K Pro so I can keep familiar with it (mostly the networking stuff).
