Default Questions About SATA

I was wondering why I'm warned that if my SATA cable is bent 90 degrees, it may cause loss of data - how is that possible?
And why do they need fancy new power connectors - if I can buy a convertor that plugs into a molex, they're obviously not receiving anything special?

It's just how it is. I use a broom handle and wrap the SATA cable around it to take up the slack, it looks pretty good all perfectly curled up and it reduces the space it consumes

probably since if you bend any cable like that over and over, the wires could break?

i wrapped the slack in my sata cables around my watercooling tubing.

Well its like a hose. If you bend a hose at more than 90 degrees it cuts off some flow. Similar things happen with electricity and you get collisions when all the data cant go through at once.

The cables have special voltages that newer drives'llbe able to take advantage of. As of now, I don't think any hard drives require that it comes from the SATA connector of a PSU versus a converter. But the time will come when it's necessary, so I'd advise that if you wanna buy a PSU you pick one up with SATA connectors -- there's no reason not to.
