Default Pimps, what are your jobs?

As the title says really, what is your real life job? Lets not have answers like pimping or the like thankyou very much!

I'm wondering how many of you have self made jobs involving computer sales, repairs etc.

I'll kick us off. I'm a telecommunications apprentice for a major uk cellular operator. It's pretty good but the college aspect damn right sucks ( hence my little endevours to find people who made it for themselves so to speak, as my true calling has always been computers ).

Not telling you what I do for a living because you don't need to know, but rest assured that I'm growing to dislike my job and I'm heading back to school to get a degree in Information Systems Security from ITT Tech. Oh, and my job now isn't in the computer industry.

I believe this topic existed many ages ago. Oh yes, here it is

I am a network admin for a large ISP. My job allows me to work with equipment that most people don't get a chance to see. The bad part about my career is, I can describe my job to someone who knows nothing about my field and they have no clue about what I was talking about.

lol. Well a nice assortment so far then.

I'm thinking about setting up an online shop or something along those lines.

I just remember back when I was youngster needing the bios reset on whatever rig I had back then and the prices for getting someone called out to do it were just crazy.

Want the cash but wanna enjoy getting it!

Roll on z0mbi3.com ...I wish

I work as a CTO at an investment management company. I've had a variety of jobs though, and did set up my own consulting shop (Network design and Security Consulting) for a while. It's a rewarding experience, particularly if you're the type who has issues with authority/boss types. Now I'm back in the corporate world. I found that I'm able to function better with some sort of oversight, I'm just too inclined to play games all day if there isn't someone to give me a kick in the pants every now and then. As for the college thing, I'm with you. I left after my junior year of college to join the dot com world. I think my age group (30ish) is the last group that will be able to get by without a degree, although I'm going to have to go back and finish at some point.

Anyway, there will always be a need for a local guy to fix machines. My one word of warning, you'll have to have the patience of a saint, because home users are typically the most ignorant of the bunch. If possible, I would try moonlighting for a while and see how you like being the fix it man. You can probably do a couple of hours a week without intruding on your regular work schedule.

Best of luck with whatever path you choose.

And I sure wish I could switch jobs with Highperf15...

Hey, Highperf, remember this one?

Self-propelled, pop-up bullet stopper... Rollin' on a pair of 13" LPCs... Weight capacity = whatever the hell they want me to carry. Cruising range = 100 miles/day without APC assistance, 300+ with...

I go where others fear to go and do the things they say can't be done...

All that translated to civilian speak = US Army, Infantry (or couldn't you tell from my sig? Go ahead and mouse over it, go ahead, you know you wanna )

Pearls of wisdom right there. I want to encorporate stuff that I enjoy and can get motivated about into something I can earn an income from. Ok sad that it'll probably be computers but who knows what could happen.
