Question TV Guardian - The Foul Language Filter.

TV Guardian - The Foul Language Filter
Who will buy this? Now I seen it all.

New Technology gives you the power to remove the cursing and offensive language that is coming into your home through television and video! How many times have you watched a movie with your children and cringed at the sound of every profane word; knowing that such language was going against all that you stood for, and was polluting the hearts and minds of your children? Well, no more!! Today you can take action to clean up the language coming into your home!

Your mother would probably buy that for you since you are too immature to comprehend such big complex words like **** and **** and ***** and let's not forget everyone's favorite ****-****ing ************

Then pay attention to the ratings, thats what they're there for. Dont let your little ones watch pg-13 or R movies! Not that i could see this working anyway. If something like this actually worked it would be hooked up on every live broadcast. Theres a reason theres still a guy with a button... I guess it only works on stuff thats closed captioning anyway. Plus it wont edit out nipples (female only of course, they make baby jesus cry) so teh children still aren't safe!!!! As long as words are censored out and we leave in the good old fashioned violence our children will grow up normal and stable...

I don't see what's so bad about words. I think we all need to listen to George carlin's "Seven Dirty Words".

It's funny in writing, but the way he says it on stage makes it like 10x better. It's like the difference between cybersex and the real thing.

How is this legal? Wasn't there a big fuss about this same thing (censorship) happening in DVD players and that was hot down? I apologize for not looking any of this up but it appears it would infringe on copyright mumbo jumbo.

I think the difference here is that the plan on the DVD censoring actually CUT out parts of the movie but this device simply mutes the offending words . . . Not actually destroying the finished product . . . at least, not any more than running a movie on network television would.
