| get something high end panasonic or sony, i'm a sony fan myself. I recomend the MDR-V500 DJ model. The 40mm driver will rattle your brain box with serious base, they can take a beating too. they run about 80(i got mine refurb for 60). there is one modle above them that is proquality with a 50mm driver, but you got to be really serious about it to plunk down the 120 they run. | ||

| I'd go with the Grado SR60. Many reviews I've read onine list them as the best headphones for under $100. I bought a pair about six months ago at HeadRoom for $69.99. http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?...tID=0020090060 They sound incredible but were a little uncomfortable at first. Once they're broken in, they're nothing short of amazing. | ||

| i gotta pair that i dont recommend...aiwa hp-x222...i got them as a gift and they looked sharp and even had a built-in mute button on the left side...they were nice at first but the sound quality quickly went to sh!t after about 3 months of jammin...(i probably push them a lil more than most being a half deaf musician..lol)...i still would steer ya away from those...at the 50 buck range they came at i would think u could find better...i know koss offer many cheap models and most i have tried were quite good (most being a cheaper comparitive (generic?) to bigger name brand models | ||

| GET SOME ****ING SONY MDR-V500's. They are $100canadian and their frequency is 10hz-22khz I think. amazing things. I have them for 2 1/2 years now, nothing wrong with them, use them all day. They never distort. They can take easily over a watt of power through them. They are DJ headphones BTW. GREAT SET. WONT BE DISSAPOINTED! | ||

| Apex Techie I | The type of headphones you want will depend on what type of sound you want and what you use them for. If your just a casual listener and like kicking back to some "nice" headphones with a "warmer" sound, go for the Grado's, All the Grado's I've used I've noted have a tone that's great to listen to live of jazz albums with, they add a bit of coloration to the sound. Now If your into production, you aren't going to want something that colors the sound, your going to want something transparent(feeding through exactly what's coming into it). And Closed back to prevent bleed through. Let me tell you this , my $90 buy was a pair of Sony MDR-7500, They have been through hell and back, And this is accually what most studio's use, there a workhorse, seriously, next time you see a thing on tv showing a clip o someone singing with headphone cue, look at the headphones, 8/10 there usally the 7500's But anyways, to each there own, My best advice, go to Guitar Center or some other music/pro audio store, they will more than likely have them setup so all you have to do is to push a button to listen, Take a listen for awhile, compare all of them. It's just like finding your instrament. You have to try them all, and see which one YOU like best. 'Cuz overall, audio is personall preferance, and it's possible that noone here at PR has the same listening preferances as you , we can just tell you technicallitys, what they mean(kinda) and our own personally opinion. You never know till you've heard it yourself, i spose is what I'm trying to say, so good luck with the hunt | |
