Unhappy Upcoming Haitus

Well, it appears my car has decided that i need to get more exercize. While driving down the road earlier there was an explosion behind me, the tranny popped into neutral and the engine cut out. it hasn't started back up since. I was closer to the office then i was to my house so i walked here. i no longer have a car, nor the money to fix it or buy another one, and my only internet access was here at the office. i don't know anyone to get a ride from so i really don't know what is going to happen.

the immediate future looks rather bleak for the Misty one, my friends.

Ride it through Mist Man, Dark has been there before and survived. Remember, things always work out in the end for good people. You are good people, things will work out.

Been there done that!!! Those of us that have Junky ass cars know all to well the knicle and dime behavior of a cheap car. Just today I ran through a red light . across a flashing train intersection and into the snow to slow down the car as the brakes were no more. Master Cylinder died!! a 17dollar fix though. Nothing like an explosion and a bad tranny. But if you ask Insomniac about the Day he came to Indianapolis he can tell you about the time I wasn't there to pick him up when his plane landed but rather sitting on the curb of a gas station in the middle of BFE while my car was dead in the water and full of all my computer gear sitting on the side of the interstate. Yeah threw a ROD on the way to Indy. I had no way to fix ot for about 5 months and found rides from some people I never thought were going to help As BA said good things happen to good people. Eventually It comes around man. You are the master of your own destiny. Take charge of it and it will come to fruit my man!
Good Luck and hope it all works out.

just died on me, but there are so manyt things wrong with it that it likely wouldn't be worth fixing. and explosions from cars are not typically signs of good things in the works

Clown, sometimes you post the most inappropriate comments at the most inopportune time. Guess that's why you are a clown. This thread isn't about sharpshooting other people, it's a show for support for Mist. You got a problem with my comments handle it with PM's. Don't intrude on Mist's post with your asinine observations. Matter of fact look for a PM from me.

Mist, I know your background, so you have a hell of a lot of flexibility. I think we've all been there at one time or another. Just remember the phrase, "Semper Gumby".

Mist... can you put the tranny in any other gear than neutral or is it stuck? If you can move it, it's a good thing... trust me.

Might hit the paper, I have a friend who bought an old Dodge for like 500 bucks... turns out the damn thing had a hemi in it! Also, a lot of the 3-bucks a mile 80's cars like the old cadillacs are goin' for under a grand 'cause the MPG suck... it would probably carry you through though...

Good luck, dude! When I thought my car was goin' to that big lot in the sky, I tried financing a new one... just let 'em know right up front you're NOT desperate... within three days of saying "I think I'll just fix my car' the guy was practically BEGGING me to take the car at the insanely low percentage rate I said I MIGHT agree to (I didn't even do it on purpose, but it was a helluva education).

As it was, I hit my parents up for a car long enough to get by... if you don't have that option, ya might rent a car for a month until you can fix your old one...

Once again, good luck!

LMAO.. don't be mad at clown, he's a kid still, got a lot to learn ;P i definately didn't start the thread to throw a pity party, just wanted you guys to know that if i disappear for a while, that's why. i hate to drop off the face of the earth like this when you guys were so generous with the computer issue, so i wanted to let you know what's happening.

you guys mean a lot to me and i'll do what i can to get back ASAP or, hopefully, not have to stop reading in the first place, but if i do, you know why. i'm not trying to immitate eggy

people posting too fast to reply.. if this is a double post, i appoogize in advance

DS -- it popped into neutral then the engie died out. gears seem to shift fine, but engine won't start back up. i'm not an engine expert, but my guess is that the fuel pump took a crap. been having problems under acceleration with the fuel cutting out that people have said wasn't the fuel but the tranny slipping. but a few times when i have checked, the fuel filter was bone dry afterward, which ;leads me to think it was the pump missing cycles and getting out of time.. when it died earlier i checked and the filter was bone dry again. i can't explain the explosion though unles maybe the pmp had either pooled fgas somewhere or it had decided to lock open.. i can see either causing it.. i dunno.. like i said, people who claim t know more about cars then i have said otherwise, but my gut sys fuel pump.. easy fix unless the boom took other things with it, and i won't know that without bringing it to a mechanic and for what they'll charge, i'm better off looking for something new (-to-me, not 2003 model ) i think.

LOL.. if it'll help, it's a 78 Olds Omegs, engine is an enigma. bought it to 3 mechanics and got 4 answers as to what it is. been told a chevy 307, chevy 350, olds 350 and olds 455... all i know is that it is definately not the original motor. has more power then a 307 should have IMO, but not what a 455 should so i am leaning toward 350 myself... trans, all iknow about it was that it was automatic the previous owner changed so many things there's no way to tell what's original and what isn't, or what he put in it when he did swap things out...

I'm wondering if the bang wasn't a backfire due to a timing problem like lokie said. If the timing is way off it can cause a backfire as well as a no start condition. If the engine died the trans would appear to be in neutral because the trans works on hydraulic presure supplied by a pump which is driven by the engine.
