| [qupte]companies like WhenU and Claria, formerly known as Gator.[/quote] GATOR!! They changed their name to conceal their identity, oh well. I guess i will have to hate the new gator. Interesting article and i have always suspected disney of paying for popups and junk, their just evil now. | ||

| god what are theses spyware companys thinking? they use people that are unaware of what these programs really are to make money--thats bad business. and children?? why would these companys use children's sites to advertise? they bundle their software with stuff like "free smileys" so people will install these programs so they can have the smileys. these people have no idea that there is more that got installed on their computers. who in their right mind would WANT pop-ups popping up every 5 seconds why they were surfing the web? not me, not you, and i would guarantee that nobody does. F@#K these companys like claria. they can kiss my ass. look at the ads on pimprig. so what if theres banners on the sides of the web pages? there not pop-ups. and they dont annoy me, or probably most of you. or the links they insert in the text--very tactful way of advertising. theres ways of paying for sites and advertising that dont require pop-ups. good job GK on the way you use advertising--now if every other website would just follow GK's example, we would have a much better and safer internet. .........ok im steppin off my soapbox now........ | ||

| I thought it was funny that spyware companies were suing people who made products to remove the spyware. I mean, turnabout's fair play, right? All they are doing is using a invasive software device to remove the ability for a certain program to work, all the while making money from the service. Sounds like they just took a page from the spyware industry playbook. What's next, television systems that change stations based on what commercials are showing? That's when you will see some no-holds-barred b*t*h-slapping being handed down. | ||

| I am sick and tired of this spyware bull****. Everytime I go home on leave, I have to spend 2 straight days fixing my parents computer, because it is flooded with 300+ spyware programs (kids do this). Friends always come to me asking about why they get so many pop-ups. One day I find CoolWebSearch, the next it's VX2. Why the F*** do these people do this? WE DO NOT WANT ADS PLASTERED ALL OVER OUR PERSONAL COMPUTERS!!!!!!!! Spyware has become the next PC virus epidemic, especially malicious spyware. Microsoft needs to get their heads out of their asses and figure out how to write an operating system without the consistancy of swiss cheese. | ||

| Great d4mn link After spending all of yesterday trying to remove the JAVABYTE VER virus/malware (unsuccessful...had to reformat HD...grrrr), i've decided that if i ever meet someone who purports to write spyware or computer viruses, i'm just going to stomp the p!ss out of 'em (without warning, without provocation). IMO, an assault charge will be a small price to pay for the satisfaction of instilling some negative reinforcement on the asshats that develope and spread this crap. | ||
