Hey guys, my name's MCP. I registered with the site a while ago but only recently had the time to check into the inner workings of this site. So far I am impressed with what I've seen. But I have the following tirade.

I've belonged to many other tech sites and posted thousands of replies to cries for help or advice, but there is one thing I noticed that constantly pisses me off. Posting just to up post numbers!

What the hell good does it do anybody when a reply is posted that says "Hee Hee", "Right On", or "Me Too". I can understand that occuring in open forums that aren't dedicated to any specific subject (like the one I'm using now), but when someone is asking for help it isn't necessary to give your two cents if it adds up to bull****.

Posting replies to folks who ask questions isn't a contest, it's a request for pertinent information from people that they believe have the knowledge and skills to assist them.

If you don't know the answer or have nothing of substanance to add, there is no reason for an answer of "That sucks, dude". For some reason certain users get a form of satisfaction of having a higher number of posts than others.

The purpose of the help forums is to help. The discussion forums like this one is different, this is where you can rant without regard to subject. But don't reply to a user needing help unless you can supply it.

MCP...the only thing I care about my post count is to be able to select my own avitar and submit mine own of TAZ.

I don't pay attention to it unless it has under 100 or over 1000 for others.

(Just upped my post count on this new forum to "2" and I'm still a damn NoOB...LOL)

Well, for the most part that may be fixed! Maybe some people will want the have the highest Karma rating now, which would reduce their "Cool" and "Oh, that sucks" responses. Either that or everyone will forget or not care about the whole Karma thing

Hello Microsoft Certified Professional, I'm bigakita. Even though I shadowed the site for a while, my very first post was almost exactly like yours here in the thread. And I caught hell for it.

Consider yourself lucky that this forum has matured over the last few months or you would have to face the wrath of DD, Threat, and others. But don't think that this site has lost it's attitude. It's OK to question, but as a n00b I wouldn't criticize. Some members still bite.

Jon, Taz, and Monkey, I got on the site earlier today but been too busy to do much prowling. I like this better, much quicker. I also enjoy checking out the reg's avatars, little more personality in them. Check you guys in the forums.

If you look at Taz's new avatar's facial expressions.....he might well be what the Taz in the sig is riding on with such exhileration!

BA...I agree seeing all the Avitars is very refreshing and fun. This new setup is pretty damn cool. This should be interesting to see what Avitars some of the others come up with. I'm still exploring, and having a good time with it!!!
