| Apex Tech Fanatic | well after 4 months, my re-enlistment bonus finally came in. well not till the 13th according to mypay. 6 year re-enlistement = $15,000 before taxes and $10,305 after taxes. i cant stop thinking of what kind of computer to build now. i just got done building a AMD 64 2800+ comp, that im not overly impressed with. its fine for my normal day to day OCing and gaming, but im thinking im going to build a screaming comp this time. granted i will only be able to enjoy it for about 1 year before i deploy to Iraq, but ill get the most out of it before i go. im thinking of.. DFI LP NF4 SLI-DR AMD 64 3800+ OCZ DDR600 1 gig 512x2 300 gig SATA 6800 Ultra ( just 1 for now) SLI later cheap DVD burner acrylic case that i will custom build water cooled with DD parts granted, i havent ran this by the wife yet.. as im sure i will have to make some cuts somewhere. but this is what im thinking. now as i understand, both AMD and Intel will be releasing new CPUS within the next few weeks, so i may hold off for price drops or better CPUS. im still up in the air on which CPU to go with. i feel that Intels do run apps better than AMD, they just done OC as well. but i wont be looking to OC this comp right away. i will push it at first to see what it can handle. regardless of CPU. | |

| Apex Tech Fanatic | i like being able to see into the case from all sides. there just isnt any good cases with a nice mix of acrylic and sheet metal. the windows sides are just.. well beyond over done. i know acrylic cases are over done somewhat as well, but thats why i decided to build this case. i can atleast make it look unique. when i start that mod process, ill post pics and all for it. i just read a reveiw here on PR about the new intel chips a few days ago. and forgot where i read about the new AMD Venice chips ( or is venice Intel?) well next week iirc AMD will release thier new CPUs. i dont think intel will be releasing it at teh same time, but think they follow a few weeks or months afterwards. the only downside to the Intel CPUs is that you need to buy a new mobo with it, unlike the AMD cpus coming out that slap right into a socket 939. atleast Intel will be catching up with AMD and offeing SLI on thier new boards, but i dont think i want to wait that long, plus deal with all the bugs of a new mobo, where as the 939 boards have matured somewhat by now. | |
