| Mine came from way back in the day when everybody playing Counter-Strike was either named Maximus (Gladiator came out) or Dark Killer 87 or something lame like that. I shot for the opposite for humor's sake. It still leads to some interesting scenarios as sometimes people think I'm a girl. The actual phrase, though, was lifted form the very end of Roujin Z | ||

| For years I used uber techno, super slick, w/e names, all cliché "matrix baby" names. Well I got sick of looking just like the rest of the kids on forums; I wanted to be a respected member of a community. I also acted like a jerk back then and wanted to change that. I had loosely hung around pr for along time then I saw Overkill’s thread about the family who needed donations and help. I really wanted to send some their way so I finally register here at PR and have stayed around ever since then. Now before I post >60% of the time I will say this in my head; "does PR need this? Will this help, or will it be interesting to a majority of the people who read it". I delete almost as many posts as I post before I submit them. I realize that they are pointless and will make me look like a stupid kid. I also put almost every post into word and run a check on it before I post it. So I went on a mission to change my name and myself. It took me about 3 months to settle on Anchi. I wanted a name you can remember, one that doesn’t just sound like a net handle, a name with some personality to it. I remember thinking of Rob and users like him who have a simple name but are very respected. I thought Anchi loosely met these rules and closed on it. I sat down and thought about what motivated me, what I was made of at the core. I realized I still had a very strong connection to eastern history, culture, language, and art. This started when I was young. I found shelter in anime and then though whole of eastern culture. The word Anchi is a Japanese word meaning disliked for the first part of my name, then second half is Nekura, meaning dark-natured, introverted, dour, moody, and insular. These two words are very close to how I feel of myself and how others see me. keeping to the Japanese language, i say it Nekura Anchi. I decided to only use Anchi as my user here at pr due to its simplicity and it not blatantly standing for something. I do us Nekura in games thoght. Last edited by Anchi; 07-April-05 at 02:48 PM.. | *hanging head in shame* I'm simply a geek . . . Mine's a name I made up for an old D&D character, and it stuck . . . esp since I've found that literally NO ONE ELSE on the net wants to use it . . . Every time I sign up for a service, old or new, it always goes through on the first try . . . So, I'd say it's a keeper. | ||

| From this band i was in once upon a time, Cynosure. Means the center of attention, also, latin for the north star/dipper/ursa etc. Cyno was always taken (AIM and hotmail IIRC, that was 8 years ago...), or is under the char limit, or if your name has to end with a number or something. Ive been using Cyno01 for 8 years now, and for brief periods, my MSN or ICQ display name was CynOSur3, or back in my fone phreaking days, Cyno414 (my home area code ).EDIT:Also, i always figured that "cyno" was a root meaning center or something, but literal translation when i looked it up finally like a month ago, it just means dog... | ||

| Mine came from my friends when I first got my car, a 1985 Honda Accord. In what turned out to be good luck for me, the car was not running when I first purchased the car. All that turn out to be wrong with it was a broken fuel pump. But my friends saw me wrenching on this old Honda and this short-lived name was born. Though I wish I had chosen something different when signing up for pimprig. | ||
