| I will be closing on my house on the 31st of march and was going to probably get my home theater in a box from sony. I just wanted to get an idea of anything else i will need to get it up and running. I was looking at something like this or this (mainly cause i dont own a VCR anymore) . I have a samsung 32" HDTV with 2 component in, s videa, 3 ol' rca jacks. I own no game systems except an xbox. I just wanted to be sure that i would be able to use a system like this with my xbox still being in HDTV and playing through the speakers. Thanks in advance. | ||

| The only thing i might suggest its some better cables (plus it really didnt tell what comes in the box). Do yourself a huge favor and pick up a toslink cable(http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...ctSKU=POCN120A) ,maybe some speaker stands (unless you want to wall mount ) and a roll or two of speaker wire. The newer RCA cables are nice to get or have because of the the connectors being "fused" lack of a better word ,and keeps cable clutter down. Make the wife happy and get some zip ties and split loom to wrap everything up in. Thats about all i can think of. | ||

| Cool, just didnt know becuase it did not say it had a component input on the receiver, it only said it had a component output. if this is true would i just plug the xbox cables for video (have hte monster HDTV game cables) into the tv and hte audio into the receiver? There isnt alot of room on the cables to move em. | ||

| Sorry Rev. I didnt really fully understand your question the first time around. But you are still cool it looks like . If you hit the specs page you cant get the manual (pdf) on the first link you gave. The first one does have 2 video connections on it,So that could be your baby. dunno about the 2nd one cant find much on it. | ||

| I may not have worded my question right the first time so i will try and rephrase it. TV has 2 component inputs. I was looking at one of the two above linked packages. Just want to make sure that i will be able to plug my xbox in and get the HDTV picture and still be able to use the surround sound on it. Thats teh simplified version of it. | ||

| Ill be honest i dont think you should have any problems the x box should hook up like a vcr. Put it in the inputs and have rca jacks from the output of the t.v. to the input (video and audio ) source of the reciever. Someone else might jump in here that knows more about xboxes than i do. Congrats on selling your place and moving to another. | ||

| OK, after visiting a few sites and doing some digging i found the one that will best suit my needs. It has all the component in jacks i need and is only like $100 more. Thanks for your help flounder. Me and the wife have been apartment living and this is our first house so i am excited about getting to put stuff in it. It will finally be nice to have a place to set up my computers without them having to be stacked on each other (like they were in my apartment). | ||
