| anyone know of a way to combine the multiple installation disks for programs onto one DVD? for instance, instead of having to swap the 5 disks for Half Life 2, is there a way that I can just combine them to be burned onto a DVD and install ok? | ||

| Some you can combine to a dvd by taking the contents of all the cd's and putting them into a folder making sure the setup.exe from the first disk is not overwritten and then making an an image file of the contents of the folder. Some programs games cant be done like call of duty. Hope this helps | ||

| looked a little more into it and some say just them in one folder and burn them like you said. but they've also had some problems with games that require cds to play as it won't recognize the new burned dvd as the play disk. games suck as kotor are like that. since half life 2 doesn't need a cd that game is ok but anyone got a solution besides just using the dvd copies just for installs while just having to use the original cd for the play disk? | ||

you got any more specific answers? i'm looking for a solution where I can just pop the disk in and the autoplay will read the install stuff and install all the way through. no switching disks or mounting images and stuff. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| some people like here: http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversio...hp/t24421.html say you can. they just don't really describe the process past just putting them all in one folder . .. going to try this with kotor first and then hl2 if it works. there should be some way to do it but not sure of all the particulars. its only the cost of a dvd-r if it doesn't work so might as well try. edit: well just burning all the kotor data files in separate folders for each disk works to install from, but the disk 2 section still pops up and i have to point it to the next folder. the msfn board linked had a post that said that he made a simple batch file to make it a silent install. anyone have any idea what i need to put in the batch file? edit2: i installed kotor again with the new burned dvd. after asking for disk 2 it installed all the way to 100%. it asked for disk 4 but after pointing it to the right folder, it didn't do anything with it and immediately asked me if i was finished or wanted to play. guess that's close to what i wanted. not perfect but better than having to dig through 4 disks.
