A DEA agent is giving a presentation at a school to kids and their parents on how guns are not playtoys. The dumbass states that he's the only one in the room professional enough to handle a Glock .40. He then (I believe) pulls out his service weapon, ejects the magazine, locks the slide open (I think he reversed these two steps), then shows it to a teacher to verify that it is not loaded. He then continues to run his mouth instead of checking the chamber, closes the slide, and points it at the floor to dec0ck the weapon. Low and behold, the round still in the chamber is now the round in his leg.

The dumbass continues his lecture with a round in his leg when he should have immediately ceased the presentation, gotten everyone out of the room, and verified again that the weapons in the room were unloaded and safe. Instead, he continues and has an assistant hold up an automatic machine gun (can't tell what it is) and the back of the classroom panics and starts to leave the room. He shouts out that the weapon isn't loaded and it's safe.

Yeah, right.

I would have kicked the guy's ass on the spot had I been there.

even if the weapon wasn't loaded, it still shouldn't have been pointed in the direction of his body.
  • Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
  • Never point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
  • Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
  • Keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
i'm sure he's been taught these in all of his weapon safety classes . ..
just shows what happens when you don't follow them

two things i noticed....

first after the gun went off the agent all of a sudden developed a rather odd walk. if you ask me he shizzled himself, and with good reason.

secondly, this i thought was funny, when he went for the next gun to be brought out everyone in the room was telling him, "no, put it down". lmao, i couldn't agree more.

I can't beleive he didn't check the weapon before he went and pulled the trigger. NEVER trust a gun someone else hands you.

Right on!!! Obviously the dude is not a professionall.... Why would you even bring a loaded weapon to a demonstration where kids are there? I mean, Atleast unload of everything properly and make sure there is no rounds in the chamber plus have the safe on.. It's a good thing he did not point it in the croud.

Damn! That's totally insane haha, he probably did soil himself, I know I would have had I been in the audience. When he brought out the assault rifle that was hilarious how everyone is like "PUT IT AWAY!"

yeah, why the heck did he bring a loaded weapon? its not like he was planning on firing it inside the classroom. could he be sued for reckless endangerment for everyone in the classroom?

Actually, he really did shoot himself in the leg (grazed it).

It was also his service weapon that he carries on-duty.

it was? it looks like he went over to his assistant and his assistant gave it to him. is he considered on duty if he is in an academic environment?

No, he pulled it out of his thigh holster at the beginning of the class. He only shows it to his assistant to verify that the the weapon is not loaded.

If you are a sworn law enforcement agent on the federal level, you are considered on-duty 24/7. About the only place you don't carry is in a court room and that's because judges don't like to have any weapons in a court room (and they can toss your butt in the can if they feel like it for contempt). Hospital, school, nursery, nunnery...doesn't matter, if you're sworn, you carry. If you go on vacation, you take your beeper with you. It goes off...you go back to work.
