Default How much You Have Put Into Your Computer?

How much do you love your computers and how much have you put into them

Mine about 200-300 bucks, including any mods to it that i have done for cooling

This is just to give any one new a general idea of how much they might have to shell out!

Original build of "I hate coming up with names" was $1400, including all the peripherals.. toss on another $200 in modding gear... $100 for a case upgrade... $500 for parts upgrade.. $200 again for modding and misc stuff (joysticks, etc)... another $100 as of late for a new keyboard and mouse....

Lets see.. $2500, after it's all said and done? Granted, I got a bunch of free swag in there too... (case wrap, some cathodes and fans, etc...)

Expensive lil' bugger...

...and I'm gettin an itch to build / mod a new one too...

Ah the little things in life... at least its cheaper than moddin' cars..

I doubt it is nearly as much as some guys around here, but figure somewhere around $600 Next will be a better monitor. So that figure is gonna jump up when my tax return gets in.

since 1997 i would put the total about $14k or so. i say this because because my first computer was a clone PC that cost 5k alone. damn glad prices dropped since then, and also learnig how to build my own.

since then tho, between the 5 PCs i have at home all ranging from my lowest 1gig mhz to my current rig AMD 64 2800. all with thier own monitors, keyboard mice, roughly 40 gig to 200 gig HDs, decent video cards on the more recent systems and all with atleast 768 ram to 1 gig.

then add in my hubs, modem, and my 2 water cooling kits. my main backup system and my current system. im about to drop another $150ish on a DD pump and a good fan controller/temp monitor.

i expect within the next month to drop another 1000 or so for new SATA Hardrives and a better CPU and a decent monitor as my gamma is going on one of my systems.

so ya, in the end way to ****ing much money!

Great thread Bro!

1100$ 6800 Ultra x2
900$ Athlon FX-55
850$ Custom ZennzzoVap
350$ WD 74 GB HD x2
200$ SLI DFI motherboard
350$ 1GIG OCZ Ram
250$ PC Power and cooling SLI power supply
4000$

This is the estimate for my current project, I may have to trim it a bit, I have a single Raptor 36GB, and I may go with a less expensive power supply

Upon a quick add up, about $5k, if you include PC's my parents bought. Without those 2 PC's that my parents bought, my rigs add up to around $2500.

I spent about $3500 to build mine. Then again, that was one year ago, and it is a complete entertainment center for me, with TV and FM capabilities to boot.

I was given a 19" CRT and $500 to spend on a new computer for graduation. With the flights of fancy I have, it hurt quite a bit to only have $500. I stretched it into a then top of the line giga-byte motherboard with a KT333 chipset, the then top of the line AthlonXP 2100+, 512MB of OCZ PC3000 (big mistake - if you've ever heard people make the comment "OCZ is trying to make up for their past", this is the product they're talking about), Dual 40GB Maxtor drives for a RAID 0 array, a loud as hell hsf from cooler master, and a cheap as they come 24x Burner... then I was stuck with the generic 400 watt PS, a 32mb PCI TNT2, and a "Hydraulic" tower from my old compie. For a $12 power supply, it lasted a lot longer than I thought it would have - blowing out at a little over 6 months. Upgraded to a 550watt Antec TruePower for $100 (same price at time as 430watt). Later upgraded to a 128mb AGP Radeon 9000 for $70, upgraded to a low-grade Peltier cooler for $100 and replaced the case with Antec Sonata for another $100 (350 watt inside it came in handy when Jess blew up the 550 watt one, LoL).

$870 total.

in hardware , about $2000 in the past year....if the fates smile upon me, i'll start purchasing the parts for a custom case next month (starting with a custom fan controller from DragonModz - shameless plug)...beyond that, i really don't want to look at "the big picture" on cost...it'll scare me
