Default This Week in Movies: 2/13/05

Been missin the last few weeks cause I never got a chance to watch anythin'...

So here's this week's line up:

Hot!
Taxi

Not...
Raise your Voice
Saw

So bad we didn't even get any of them
The Motorcycle Diaries
Tae Guk Gi

----

Review: Taxi
Queen Latifah is a cabbie, except her cab is like KITT from Knight Rider... except, its a Crown Vic, and almost NFSU-like once its done changing. She bumps into a down on his luck cop, and they try and break a case about a string of bank robberies....

A pretty damn funny movie, all considered... I'd give it a 8.5/10

Opinions:
- Saw -
Serial killer... tortures his victims.. makes them kill to save their lives? Oh-kay.. lame plot.. blah... In the need for a horror flick? The Grudge would most likely serve you better.

- Raise Your Voice -
First mistake: Hillary Duff is the lead actress. Second mistake: the plot sounds like Britney Spear's story (Yanno, singer in BFN, makes it to the big time somehow) ... Unless you're really feelin' the chick flick, or have to make it up to the missus' somehow... skip it.

...overall, this week's releases sucked... unless you dig the kiddie stuff like Bob the Builder and The Wiggles...

Thanks for the warning on Saw, I thought it was mostly hype.
The Grudge wasn't very entertaining anyways.

Well.. when I read the box on Saw all I could think of was: Wow, its like Running Man, except worse....

And I watched it and was horrified...

...by how bad it really was.

All I've got to say for this week's releases is...

ICE PIRATES!!!

I've been waiting for years for this to come out on DVD and now finally, here it is.

I suppose you wouldn't like Saw if you... didn't like... movies about serial killers...and clowns on tricycles...

Personally.. i thought it was pretty good; but then again, i'm always in the mood for stupid serial killer / freaky movies. (see Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days later and the likes...)

Movies for tonight : Donnie Darko and Casablanca

If your into indie films, I watched Spun and Maria Full of Grace this weekend, and both were well worth the time.

Also watched Ray which was great, but I think too really enjoy it you have too be able to get into the music.

Dont be hatein on SAW, that was a good movie.
I enjoyed every minute of it.
I guess im the only person who enjoys that kind of movie....................(YOUR ALL NUTS)

The advertising for saw f*cked up the movies audiance, they got the wrong message of the movie and that discouraged many.
The jigsaw killer isn't a clown, that was a puppet he used to pass a message to one of his victims.
I suggest you do not turn your eyes away from this movie so easily.
Im likely to ask my mom if i can rent it today.

ADD: THE GRUDGE SUCKED AND BLEW AT THE SAME TIME, AND USUALLY THAT IS A GOOD THING.
Something is just not believeable when Buffy the vampire slayer is being chased by ghosts.
I think it would have been better if the movie was never made and it was left as a japanese novel.

If I'm going to spend 2 hours of my time, I'd rather be entertained about how bad the movie is than disgusted by it...

So I'll say that I don't like Napoleon Dynamite either. Bite me.

Besides... I like car shows... chases and such... the Bond shows (obligatory car race in the twisties in BFN, England or wherever), Italian Job... etc.

- Btw, I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, so I don't see any advertisements for any of the movies I watch... so I honestly only had the back of the box for Saw to go by.

So to all you naysayers, again, bite me.

P.S. fatsobob: have you watched Ju-On? Same story, no Buffy, all Japanese afaik, haven't seen it yet ... 1 copy for the store.. and it goes out as soon as it comes in.
