| What makes your sound system sometrhing to be proud of? is it the amount of vibration, is it the ability to blow out a few windows a month? is it the feeling of knowing that you can outbeat the poor shmuck next door? or the ability to shake the entire house? or noticing the LED suddenly pulsing to the beat? and what Genre of music in your opinion makes the long amount of hours that you spend in front of it, worth it? EX. techno, death metal, etc etc please refrain from posting songs! that you listen to on it, remember the NDA!! | ||

| Apex Advanced Techie | hmm. well are we talking stereo sound system or computer sound system? well, nevermind. mine applies to both. I have my sound output on my computer going thru my stereo system. I have a sound blaster live 5.1 sound card, running along a v-cable to the input on my stereo. dont know the wattage on my stereo, but it sounds great. excellent for games or just listening to tunes. type of tunage? metal. or rock. industrial too. the harder the better. ALL HAIL RAMMSTEIN!!! | |

| I like it knowing that at only a quarter volume, my Jones Soda collection starts rattling like a mother... and I've -never- had it that much past that, even at the LAN's that -want- us to bring loud speakers... And what do I listen to... Trance, Dance, House, Punk, Metal.... some J-music (J-Pop, Anime OST's, etc etc...) | ||

| Etiquette & English Gentleman | It's sublety - the ability for whatever hardware you go for to reveal some facet or detail of the music you've never heard before when playing it on lesser equipment ... on my "reference" setup (old Technics class A amp, MOR Marantz CD & 25+ year old monster Leak speakers) I can hear whole extra _instruments_ compared to my PC setup (NF& onboard sound & Creative 5.1 squeakers). Genres? Lots really, techno, eurphoric, lots of subspecies of house, rock, opera, classical, skiffle, reggae, ska, dub, goth, acoustic, choral, pop, hip hop, chillout, funk, some country ... & probably lots more that didn't spring immediately to mind. | |

| Two words: LOUD and CLEAR. I think I'm the only Dad in the school with a pair of 12" subs in his minivan instead of a stroller. The stroller stays in the garage. I love when the Mom's at school give me the evil eye for playing "Get Low" too loud when I'm dropping my boys off...it's great ![]() Although I enjoy other's reactions, I just enjoy my music loud and clear, whether it's on my PC, in my car or in my home theater. As for music genre, I like neo-soul the best,, hip-hop, some rap (especially 80's and 90's), urban, select hard rock stuff (Coldplay, Nickelback), some classic rock (Floyd, Eagles), the occasional trance/techno/electronica, classical (I like strings the best...Taffelmusik's version of Four Seasons is OUTSTANDING; I like Tchikovski for his aggresive compositions too)...pretty much anything that's well arranged and produced, not stuff that was thrown together to make a buck. Oh...and stuff with lotsa bass puts the F.U. in FUN when I'm in the mood ![]() [EDIT] I know exactly what you're talking about JE ... subtlety is an excellent way of describing it...my car setup (currently) is better than my home setup, and the intamacy of that setting brings out amazing detail, despite ambient noise. I'm running a Phoenix Gold amp up front to a pair of MTX separates, and to the rear speakers for fill,, and an Alpine mono-block to a pair of 12" subs in the rear hatch. All controlled by a Panasonic head unit with electronic E.Q. and x-over. In the next couple of months I'm upgrading my HT setup so I can really enjoy my CD collection. | #1 amd #3. I have the second best system on my floor (one guy down the hall has a HTPC w/ z680s, i've only got the 640s, but he only has a 17" TV, not a 20" widescreen ). Was feeling hyper yesterday, put on some Motion City Sountrack and played some CS with the sub up, then dishes started falling off the desk...Here's my setup. And this pic shows where my sub is. | ||

| Logitech makes pretty bangin' speakers for PC...I hope that's what you were referring to Outcast... SM: I have a separate sub volume control on my head unit (which was a gift from my beloved) so she doesn't mind at all...as long as it doesn't get in the way... I made the sub box removeable, so when I have to (which is rare) I can just disconnect it and bring it into the house. I've got the 2 subs in an isobaric clamshell conflagration so it takes up half the normal space dual 12" subs would occupy. BTW all the kids love the "Need for Speed Underground" song (Lil' John's "Get Low") lol ![]() | ||

I always thought it was the ability to shake the house until I vibrated a Flat Screen off the wall!.....now I keep it down to a minimum after that.........(yeah this could win me the dumbass award) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| My setup really isnt too much to be porud of, but my biggest to date. Sony "limeted edition?" Twin woofer drive system speakers with a 5.1 philips system (so yep thats 4 stereo speakers, including 6 6" woofers) and the little dodads that do the surround stuff....not that i use full surround often. Machine is the Philips FW775P 3x cd changer, dual tape deck Genre of music would be (in order of liking) Chillout, Jazz, House, Rock, Dance, Rap. | ||

| Yeah, shaking the entire house is good fun. Unfortunately I cant do it a whole lot as i live in a condo. I love the extreme crispness and clearness that my speakers give me. Incredible sound quality takes place over pure loudness, but luckily I get both. They are the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras on an Audigy2 ZS, somewhat pictured here (click for big): (Yes, thats my setup) | ||
