| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | For better or worse, this morning on the way to school a woman turned out in front of me. Slammed into her at around 40mph. Air bags went off and saved the girl in the passenger side. My sister was in the back and had her face banged up alot. Everyone is alright, after going to the hospital and Xray's, my friend and I walked out just fine with just minor air bag related injuries. Sister took a while longer since she got sick after taking the Ibuproffin and had to have a catscan done. Turns out there's nothing major, just a whole lot of swelling. The air bags saved us, and thank God they deployed. The whole front end is smashed in, the windshield is in one piece, although crinkled in. I know Dark just got in an accident, and seatbelts were a factor. Everyone had their seatbelts on also, so that was very important. Moral of the story...DO NOT expect people to make good driving maneuvers. Some people don't understand the whole theory of turning out on intersections. IF THERE IS A CAR COMING, DON'T FAUCKING GO. STAY THERE AND WAIT A MINUTE. THIS WILL SAVE BOTH YOU AND OTHER PEOPLES LIVES. Things could have been A LOT WORSE, considering we got away with minor injuries. I can NOT stress this enough, let this be a lesson for everyone; especially younger drivers on here. Don't think that just because there are stop signs that people are going to stop, look both ways, and then SLOWLY creep out when there is a chance of another car in a different lane. This lady could have prevented it if she would have either kept looking as she started to pull out or just slowly pulled out and stopped when she saw me. | |

| Glad to hear that you and yours are o.k., Kage. Last Wednesday nite, a car blew through a stop sign at 40mph and damn near destroyed a Bronco. This is at a four way intersection right outside of where I work and I have to go through that intersection in the same direction as the Bronco every night to get to work. Rob | ||

| air bags and seatbelts are great things and save lives on countless occassions. I know because from a very young age i have gone to wreck calls with my father who is a fire chief and i have seen the outcome of car accidents where people were not wearing thier seat belts. I'm glad to know that everyone is ok in this incident, i've ssen outcomes from car accidents that would give most people horrid nightmares for the rest of thier natural lives. i'm just glad this was not one of those cases. NEVER rely on airbags. they help, but they do not keep people from dying or being seriously injured. ALWAYS wear a seatbelt. My prayers, as I'm sure everyone elses are with you Kage. I know you're thankfull as are we that no lives were lost and the injuries were minor. | ||

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=29878 ^Link to my car before the accident. Claimed all the stuff that was valuable to me already, but did not have the camera along. Sad thing is, new tires were just put on a few weeks ago. All four still hold air, the drivers side rim is bent in but the tire's still good. Depending on what happens with the car, I may be able to get those back....it's such a shame. Also installed a new ignition coil around a week ago, looking to get that out too. Currently the car is at a auto shop my uncle works at, so that is good we have that connection. Overkill- It seems everyone in that field has seen these over and over, the ambulance people were all calm and collected and were making conversation. I could not help but feel stupid for being 'another teenager with a spiffy car that completely demolished it'. Insurance is still up in the air, I will just quote what was typed in a thread on the VW vortex in the local thread:
Only time will tell.... | ||||||||||||||||||||

| I hate people like that, we have no shortage of bad drivers here, I'm telling you do not trust turn signals, and beware of elderly drivers in Cadillac ElDorados and even worse cyclists who don't stop and look both ways when they cross an intersection and assume I will see them. I also hate cyclists that block sidewalks when there is insufficient shoulder on the road for me to ride on, I have to slow down to like 2mph and ask them to move over If you're going to block the sidewalk block it on the right side ![]() | ||

| Dang man thats not cool. I know how it feels to have somebody else take you out. I'm glad to hear everyone is doing OK. It must be a VW thing though that people insist on pulling out in front of you. The girl that hit me admitted to blowing a red light at 45. Mine was a 96 GTI . I gotta say that those airbags are incredible. | ||

| I had a neuspeed strut tower brace that actually got buckled in the accident. The shock towers where 4 inches closer together afterwards. It is certainly nothing I will forget. I was makeing a legal left and turned right into her when she blew the light. I had just enough time to crush the brakes. Everyone at the scene afterwards were impressed (including the cop) because my wheels where still locked when they tried to get it on the rollback. The antilock unit was smashed and the brakes couldn't release. | ||

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | Yeah man, at least I learned alot from you explaining everything to me. vf1000- That's just how these accidents happen...when you're not being super defensive and let your guard down just a little bit, you get slammed. The wrecker place (uncle works there) originally came out with a regular tow truck...turns out they needed to bring the flatbed to get it back to the temporary junk yard they have there. The front ends on these don't wind up too bad for a little car...the front bumpers are just plastic and styrofoam though. | |

| Im very sory to hear that man. Thank god and invention that your and yours are alive! I realy dislike sloppy drivers especialy drivers on cell phones, you know the ones you see flamboyantly juggling between their cell phone and steering weel. It is for that reason that I like big cars like my 96' Intrepid. Makes me feel better when I see how far my front bumper is from my windshield. I know some one is gonna come in here and say some BS about how none of that will count and*enter more bs from here* *to about here* But It doesnt matter to me I just like "felling" safe. Hope all goes well. | ||

| I'm really sorry to hear what happened man...I'm glad that you guys are ok tho. Hope your sister has a speedy and healthy recovery. It seems that no matter how careful and cautious we attempt to be...there is always someone there that can disrupt that. on a side note...we got a pretty decent amount of snow over the weekend here in Baltimore, and people drive like their maniacs when it snows. It's unbelievable. People..just calm down and be careful. on another side note...I just got new tires on my VW Jetta about two weeks ago...it was hard to find alternative tires around this area for some reason lol. | ||
