| Etiquette & English Gentleman | Being a confirmed misthanthropist (hence the Grumpy Bear avatar), I get wound up by the habits of people I live with. My top three is below, anyone got any more? 3 - Ex long term grilf who had a complete mental block regarding food - I swear she never worked out where the kitchen was (zapping a frozen croissant was cooking to her), and didn't realise that supermarkets didn't just sell cigarettes & alcohol; 2 - the "house couple" in a shared house who would save the _tiniest_ scrap of leftover food, wrap it in clingfilm, put it in a Tupperware box, label it, and put it on their (labelled) shelf in the fridge - for bog's sake, couldn't they have just eaten it or thrown it away? (they were also vegetarians on a mission - I HATE that! "Do you realise you're eating a dead animal?" "Yes, it's "long pig"") 1 - People (specifically my sister) who use slightly less of something than they really need, just so they can pretend they didn't use the last of it, and therefore deny any responsibility for getting a fresh whatever from the cupboard. Examples - having their coffee a smidge on the dark side, so as to leave a teaspoon of milk; having 1/2 a wipe less than is strictly hygenic, just to leave a single, useless sheet of TP on the roll; having a sandwhich slightly drier than is ideal, just to leave a smear of mayo in the jar; not emptying bins, because, as there is enough space for a lentil, it's not strictly "full" ......... .........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() | |

Lol! Now now.. I feel it would be in bad form to air my dirty laundry around here.. But here's some good news I just got..(And a rant to go with it!) I got a call from a lady at the U of I who wants me to work for the Art and Design department as a model! WOOHOOO! 10 bucks an hour, baby! (This is nude modeling, by the way..) Unfortunately, I am currently getting a "I just don't know about this nudity thing.." lecture. I've done it before, and got the same lecture then, and obviously, it's not doing any good! Heh. All I'm doing is standing about naked and getting drawn by people. It's not like I'm stripping at the booby bar, and they act like I'm selling my soul to the devil.. ![]() Anyway.. back to being happy! yay! Apparently, I did such a great job modeling at the community college, the woman couldn't help but refer me. Yay! Okay.. happiness over. You may now return to your regularly scheduled misanthropic chatter. ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Ok, I had a roomate and he talked on the phone more than a girl in highschool... It gets better though. Everytime he would tell a story, he could not get to the story without giving you 5-10 minutes of a whole lotta insignificant filler details leading up to the story. So, Instead of sying for example "dude! Mike and I were out at the bar met these hotties that wanted us to go back to their place and have a hot whipped cream experience on their kitchens lanoleum", he would say...."Oh dude, I gotta tell you something....I was bored off my @ss the other day with nothing to do.... I was talking to mike and he said lets go to The Hoe Club tonight....I couldn't figure out what to wear.... I called my mom and she gave me some idea's (he is 30 and him mom is a total fruit loop)....So I left to go to Mikes but was low on gas...." Well, I think you get the point. Half the time I literaly just looked at him and said "where the fock is this story going???". He did everything around the apartment backwards too, like he was sheltered all his life and never had to do anything so he didnt know how to do a damn thing. One time he went on a vacation in the middle of summer to Ohio (where he grew up). He wanted to pack a rayon sweater because he thought it might rian. I asked him why a sweater when its going to be 85-95 degrees F when it rains? "You are going to melt in that" I told him and ended up picking out everything he was going to wear for his trip.... Sooooo, needless to say I departed with a quickness once that lease was up. It was like a babysitting job that just never ended. Hell that's one of the reasons why I decided I didn't want to make a career of the Navy. 99.9% of Navy Officers that I encountered were the most spoiled demanding do nothing sons of beotches I'de evern encountered. I felt like a had enlisted to be a babysitter. It was something to the tone of Petty Officer Cordry, wipe my @ss, blow my nose, hand feed me, tuck me into bed... And then all they would do is shat on you. Well, I was perty damn good at my job and when my rotations came around and I went to work for a different Department, these mofo's would see me in the passage way a few months down the line after have the standard (or in most cases substandard) Yeoman working for them, they would crying "oh boohoohoo Petty Office Cordry please come back, we miss you, you were the best, etc..." I would just smile. Work got out though I was soon working for the Captian. Boy did things change then. Some of the same Officers that I worked for practicaly reported ot me to get to the CO. Anyhow enugh of that rant, I luv being a Civi... ![]() Last edited by FeRaL; 28-January-03 at 10:23 PM.. | ||

| Hmmm... My folks: My Ol' Man will call me from another room to turn off his light if he's laying down. Also, he gets pissed if I know somethin' he doesn't. Also, he tends to think if I'm home, I need to be working on projects he assigns me. Which, as I'm unemployed right now, I can understand... but when I am working, it's a little annoying to have my weekends planned for me. My Mom is cool, but I hear my name at least 10 times a day. Also, both parents seem to want to know my location at all times... which is annoying as hell. (can't wait to find a job I can live with, pays well, and I can move out again). My college room-mates included a drunk cowboy wanna-be, a doper and a guy who lived in roleplaying games. He left his stereo on all night to "Man o' War" which was all "We are mighty and glorious kings! Die by the sword!" and that kind of crap. My last girlfriend... we didn't live together except maybe a night here and there, mostly her drug problem was wearing on me. Also, she didn't really introduce me to her friends, so they'd be trying to hook me up with other girls... then they thought I was gay 'cause I didn't hit on other women (I am always with one person until I'm not anymore. I expect the same out of my partner)... Also. I'm pretty sure she had been setting me up to fight some pretty bad people. Not one of my best relationships, and another one of the reasons I'm not real big on trust. I prefer living alone. I spent a year on my own where I didn't have anyone over, I didn't go anywhere and I just went to work 8 to 16 hours a day, 6 days a week (4 hours day 7). I also pulled a couple of 36 hour shifts, as I was freelancing for the company at night for data-cabling. That was fun. I'd run 45 miles (90 miles roundtrip) into the nearest town, shop for food, a new computer game, grab a pizza and live off leftovers for like three days. I miss those days... how pathetic is that? | ||

| Damn Dark, sounds kinda like how I was when I hit rock bottom with my depression, except I lived half a block away from a 711 so I would wake up in the morning and walk over there in my PJ's and a pair of Birks and get a larg coffee and 2 doughnuts and play AC for 28 hours straight... | ||

| Feral... I've had a rather depressing life. The more I can concentrate on other things (like a job I can get into), the happier I usually am. Regardless, I'm sure that'll turn around... as the Buddhists say, "Change is not only inevitable... it is necessary". I'm still somewhat optomistic about my future. | ||

| Good to hear it Dark (not the depressing life but your whole outlook on life in general), thats about the only thing that got me through my 5 in the navy. My outlook was take it one day at a time because some day all this crap im going though will be done and overwith. | ||
