| The impact of the 9.0 quake was so strong that scientists say the earth wobbled, gravity shifted and levels of the earth changed. I have to believe that. Now, I live in Kansas... pretty much the center of the U.S. and not an area that gets too many earthquakes. At work, I have a high speed wrap around desk with a center drawer on rollers just behind me when I'm facing my computer. I have never had any problems with this drawer, I pull it out, grab what I need, push it shut, and all is cool with the world. Well, that was up until this week. I went back to work yesterday after the long weekend and noticed that the couple of times I opened and shut the drawer I had to shut it again. Today I noticed that even when I shut it again, it was still open. I would push it shut like normal, but it would slowly roll back out 6 inches. The only way I can get it to shut at all is to slowly push it in and gently let it go. Otherwise, it will roll right back out again. The drawer was fine when I left work before the weekend. Now, for some reason, the balance on the drawer has changed at it doesn't want to stay shut. Before, I could slam it pretty hard and it would stay put, but now I have to close it so gently, and even then it rolls back out sometimes. Yes, I believe gravity changed, I believe our Earth's axis shifted, and that the ground has moved. My desk drawer is proof. | ||

| If it would have shifted, or effected us in anyway, How come everything seems fine to me? Them dumb scientists had better get there number out fast, I mean really fast to prove that it effected the whole planet! Im not knocking BA here, It's possible, but I don't think it's possibly to effect is worldwide. | ||

| I am not an expert on aerospace physics or the gravity made by our planet, buuuut. Gravity is cause by how much mass an object has. Gravity is the pull all things have on each other. Even that spec of dust is drawn to me. But in gravity wars the earth always wins. The earth neither gained nor lost mass during that earth quake. The other side of this is your axes change. If we had an axes change we would be experiencing a sever weather change. But then again I am not a physics major. | ||

We got about half the years rainfall here yesterday, at least in parts of town. Does that count? Keep in mind, if the earths axis shifted .00001mm it's still a shift and would be reported as so by the scientists. All I can say is all of my tool box drawers work the same as before. Of course I'm not in Kansas Toto.

| Omg lol First, the effect is SOO small that even very precise instruments in space that are used to measure the earths axial tilt and rotation speed are barely able to confirm it. Second, even if earthÂ’s axis were shifted a great deal, there would be no NOTICABLE change in gravityÂ’s force upon your desk drawer. Gravity pulls things toward the centre of the earth and no matter which way the poles of the earth are pointed, the centre is still the centre. sorry to disappoint you but coincidences do occur. | ||

LOL a nine point earth quake is nothing to be concerned about the earthÂ’s core. Earthquakes are tectonic plates smashing into each other. The plates floating on top of the magma doesn't affect the core that much at all. If anything maybe some gold wiggled itself free and came up.

Never fear! I'm personally constructing a drilling machine which can tunnel through the earth and even liquid magma to deliver a large nuclear warhead to 'jump start' our planet's core in the event it goes haywire.

*claps* I thought that sounded familiar I just didnÂ’t want to insult him. I never saw the movie myself though. I heard a thing on NPR that there is a physics class at a university all about the errors that movies make. Such as no sounds in space etc. They went crazy about the core.
