It seems that Dell has underestimated the popularity that their new Axim devices would have. From what I've heard, orders placed in late december have now just begun shipping.
It's gotten so bad on their
message boards that Cnet is now on this story!
"Dell launched the competitively priced Axim X5 in November in a move that marked the direct
PC seller's entry into the handheld computer market. But now message boards on Dell's Web sites are filled with complaints from buyers upset that they don't yet have the gadgets they ordered weeks ago"

As an Axim owner in waiting, I have been following the message boards on Dell's forums, and other PDA site forums for the past two weeks, and everyone seems to be going crazy!
However, on a good note, I placed my order on the 15th of this month, and my expected ship date was to be on Feb. 5th. I checked my order status this morning, and it says that my unit was "In Transit", and I should be expecting it later next week. So that is really good news, seems that they are beating their expected ship dates.
I would also like to say that Chandler and the rest of the mods over in Dells Forums have done a great job on keeping up with posts and helping out as much as they can.
