| I know plenty of people will be upset over this, but I can't just let my latest "Mod" go to waste. I found it chock full of irony: Before anybody asks, yes, that is a Gideon Bible, which means it probably came from a hotel somewhere, but no, I didn't steal it. I actually bought it from a book fair, with proceeds going to the homeless. My next plan is using an illustrated children's bible (I can't find a regular one big enough) with some iTX components as a file server or HTPC. Oh, and thanks, Anathema ![]() Last edited by DuplexEmotions; 29-November-04 at 06:35 AM.. Reason: Picture needed resizing | ||

No, not really, the bible sits next to a plastic bag with like 30 more. I think of it more as a way to creatively express my religous confusion and rage. Oh, to anybody else that wants to hollow out a book, here's a few tips: 1. Clamp the edges of the pages somehow. I used rubber cement along the outside edges of the pages, then rubbed it off when I was done, but it left a residue that's hard to remove. Some large binder clips would work well. 2. Use an exacto-knife, and swap out a new blade as soon as yours begins to feel a little dull. You go through more blades this way, but I lost almost half of leviticus because instead of cutting the knife would pull and tear. 3. To fully secure the inside of your box, take some white glue and brush it along the inside of the cut-out. I went with a thick enough coat that I couldn't see the edges of the pages, but not so much that it dripped everywhere. At this point I also cut a piece of printer paper to the shape of the bottom of the box and glued it in place to keep everything looking more tidy, as the inside of the back cover took a bit of a beating from all the cutting.

| I don't find it humorous, but I do certainly find the justaposition interesting. I've never been wronged by any of the prople posting in this thread, and their rep count seems to suggest that few, if any, others have either. Seems like their characters are fine to me. There's more than religion to being a good person. And yes, I understand that it might be offensive to some to cut up a bible, I can see that, but I dont think that it shows any lack of moral fortitude. I find the mod to be "meh", but it has a right to exist. ![]() | ||

| It's just a book, not the holy grail. What was that quote...put not your faith in worldly things? Anyway, that book is responsible for the death of countless of other books through book burnings, etc. than we could ever imagine. I think it's funny but honestly, since I'm not in high school and living with the 'rents, I don't see any practical use for it. Besides, when searching for contraband, this is usually the first thing a cop will look at. Rob | ||

thats the first seriously wise thing ive heard you say tekx...im impressed. Keep it up we mught just be seeing a new person in you. Pffff what am i saying? I gotta lay off the pain killers. Any hoo to topic. Its a use of a book for other things . Put it this way - would God prefer an overpopulated world with HIV going like wildfire? Or the good use of his book to show the practicalities of safe sex? To me the point is very clear. Got religon? Duplex certainly has becuase he belives in somthing - safe sex. Nothing wrong there. What is ironic is the page I think you have it on. The book of exodus tells of how the 1st born of every egyptian family would die nder the plagues laid on egypt by God (through Moses)....the condoms might just be a hint there I think. Well errr keep up the good "work" ? Im whatever respect you take that.

Then maybe you could start being more clear on what you mean. I can't think of any other way this should be taken. If you really meant no slur upon anybody than I apologise, but that 's not how it looked. What exactly was it about finding the 'mod' funny that you thought spoke of character?
