I saw the same thing last week on target's web site, except it was for an anal massager. Someone is being naughty with Target's webserver...

I imagine it is because Target is no longer allowing the Salvation Army bellringers at their stores.
One of the few remaining charities where 100% of the proceeds go to the needy and Target squashes them like they are insignificant.. The SA will lose millions because of this.

Dude...that's UNCOOL! I smell a personal ban of Target coming up (that and xerox copies of receipts that my friends and family accumulate from x-mas shopping mailed to Target's corporate headquarters - to show them how much we spent somewhere else).
Where'd you get that info (not questioning it....i want to send links to friends)?

I've always hated Target anyway. Although Wal-Mart is so much more of an evil empire, they do have a better and wider selection to choose from.

On the other hand TarGeT donates 10 million dollars monthly to charities and does some pretty cool things for the local surounding communities...
I agree with their right to choose...
They do not allow any solicitation on their properties...

I am aware of this also, that is why I refrained from condemning them for what is basically a bad PR move.
No pun intended.

I don't know what this is about but the Anal Massage was a video. Here's the best resource I could find http://www.boingboing.net/2004/11/20...ells_anal.html

Why? Because they endorse company policy? Without that policy there could be a dozen groups begging you for money while you are trying to get into the door.

Probelm is, without policy a store manager gets to make the call, and a guy ringin a bell doesn't bother me, but 12 others beggin too gets a bit out of hand.

I respect your opinion, and i understand your point of view; it's reasonable, but i'm afraid that i don't agree with it in this instance.

One of the things that really bugs the hell out of me about Christmas is that it has become yet another marketing frenzy. What about Peace On Earth and Goodwill to All? More so, i think the basic premise of Christmas is really the celebration of what it means to reach the pinnacle of human and spiritual developement. After all, that is what Christ represents to the Christian religions.

What makes me ill about Target and the other stores who kicked the Salvation Army to the curb is that prior to this year, they allowed collections outside of their stores. It appears that ditching the Salvation Army was done in an effort to draw more sales (at least that's how it looks to me...then again, i could be wrong; it wouldn't be a first). Man, that's not what Christmas should be about. Christmas is supposed to be a celebration of the birth of Christ; Christmas shouldn't be about sales figures.

Well, I've never liked Target, and to me this was the final straw. They were also asked last year to donate to the troops, and they declined.
