| I'll give you the background check... Today, at school. I was playing with my girlfriends mini-rubiks cube. Its just a little key-chain one that was on her backpack. Just for fun I took it off and took it with me to last period. I spent the whole time trying to figure the little thing out! Its crazy fun. And the scary thing is, I never had one when I was younger!!! So Right after school, when my mom picked me up, she said she had to stop by wally world to pick up some pictures that she got developed. So while she was there I quick ran to the toy aisle grabbed a real one of the shelf and now am sitting here playing with it! since 2:30!!! I'm getting good at getting one side of the same color. But I haven't even come close to getting the whole thing. Tell me a color and I can move them all to one panel!! The world record hodler can complete one in an average of 20 seconds!!! www.rubiks.com provided some pretty cool facts...like it has 42 quintillion combinations!!! Just thought I would share with you guys, and maybe some of you guys have them figured out and can do them in like 20 seconds!!! ![]() | ||

| You've never had them since you were younger? they had them since what.. the 60s or 70s? i got one at walmart , well my sister did, and they are the cheap lil ones, takin the stickers off and putting them back on is funny, it makes me look smart showin ppl but ive only done that once. it takes me forever to get those done even to one side, or have you ever tried those picture puzzles, like you have to slide around tthe peaces of the picture. those are hard too, try em... very challanging. only thing is, i dont do them anymore, my sister beats me at them. a guy on guiness book of records could do one blindfolded... i saw it on tv. pretty sweet eh. they are awesome but hard. | ||

| My roommate is really good at solving it so I gave it whirl for a while. I can regularly get 1 side and each block touching that side the same color (the 1st step supposedly) and can get 2 sides pretty easily. I got 3 sides once. I don't think I'm doing that right. And I stopped because I was losing sleep | ||

| Know what I miss? Remember the sticky octopus that you would throw against the wall and it would "crawl" down it? How about the Big Wheel? Didn't play with M.A.S.K. all that much but my baby brother did. R.O.M. before ROM? Scratch 'n Sniff Stickers... Shogun Warriors was the stuff! Who could ever forget Shrinky Dinks!!! Oh, how about S T R E T C H ? ? ? Sea Monkess that would never come to life...(so no link for that!) Wanna puke without getting drunk? Sit 'N Spin!!! Whoa! Sorry, I totally hi-jacked this thread. Just thought I would give you an idea of some of the toys that I played with as a kid. Yeah, we had the common stuff like G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Voltron so that's why I didn't mention them. Had a Rubik's Cube once. Solved it and never picked it up again. Rob | ||

| Rubik's cube showed up in the early 80's. I thought it was an interesting toy but then everybody started memorizing these 'solutions' out of the various paperback books that showed up on the subject. At that point i was like "why bother" Same thing with memorizing the patterns in a Pac-Man machine - If its just rote why do it? -MF | ||

| I like brain teaser puzzles, but only have limited patience with them. I guess that's why I like jump-in-and-shoot-em-up games like UT more than strategy games. Rob: Sheesh, you just summed up my childhood in one post. By the way, here's your missing link: Sea-Monkeys.com | ||
