| this has been bugging the p!$$ out of me for some time now and for the life of me i can't figure out why. everytime i exit a game like BF1942 or Doom 3, etc etc. My system lags, like apps that would normally load in just a split second take several seconds (up to 30) before they load. I'm running a abit NF7 mobo, AMD 2.8 gig proc, Gf4 ti4200 128 RAM. no overclocking done to the system, have done defrags and clean ups, basic maintenence type stuff. anyone have a similar issue? | ||

Did you just install SP2? When I installed SP2, I noticed the exact same thing. When I uninstalled SP2, I noticed it went away. Weird huh? ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I think he means he has a 128MB video card; his profile says he's got 512MB of system RAM. Then again, his profile says he's got a Ti4600, but the post says Ti4200. Oh well. You've probably done so already, but if you're running Win 2K or XP, you might check out the memory usage before & after in Task Manager, and see what the CPU load is (and what process is eating it up, if it's high) after you exit. | ||

| ok, clarification time.... yes it's 128 DDR on the vid card sys RAM is 512 geil platinum DDR400, running dual channel i need to change my profile info and correct a couple of things, was having brainfarts when i was filling it out. OS is XP SP1, i'm not about to put that bunk-a$$ SP2 on my reliable system until $microsloth gets the bugs worked out to where it is at least stable. can't tell you how many peoples network extentions got completely hosed by installing SP2. another thing i've noticed is my hard drive activity goes apesh!t for about 30 seconds after exiting the game, but even once it's done spazzing i still have lag. even my system processes are nominal for idle, running less than 2% useage on the processor and utilizing roughly 200 on the RAM. it's possible it's the HD causing the problem because the same issue exists using IDE or SATA, but it could be anything at this point. doubt very seriously that anything in the BIOS settings could cause it but you never know with a stupid box of wires. | ||
