Default Finally Got Some Pics

Long long ago, I posted about doing a cable sleeve job on my PSU. Today I finally got my camera. Here is one of the pics I hastily took before the battery died. More and better pics as soon as I get more batteries.

you should see the bottom of my case. I have 7 80mm fans in there. I still get 45 C idle though >_<.

Looks like you did a really decent job on the sleeving; however, like Gorked stated, you really need to do some wire management. That would bring down your temp a little with the improved airflow. Sit back, think about it for a while, play with the orientation of the cable layout, and go to work with some zip ties. You would be suprised to see how much better it looks after you're done (not to mention improved airflow).

Also, I notice that you have a slot fan on the top access spot. Those were initially designed to pull the hot air off of a video card and not as a general exhaust fan. Looks like you've got two 80mm's there that are doing a good job so you might want to move that slot fan to where it'll be more effective. If you don't have a video card, slide it under your sound card. No sense in letting that go to waste.

Oh, and finally, might want to sleeve some of those other bare wires with the leftover sleeving/heatshrink. If you've already got plans to do so, fine. If not, I would seriously consider it as it would "clean up" your system nicely.

Hope this helps,

Rob

I'm going to sleeve some more cables, like you see with the fans, but I need some more supplies. I haven't gotten around to wire management yet. I have that exhaust there for the CPU. Without it, I usually hit 60 C or so. When I get my new Socket 939 cpu and board, I should have a better setup going.

Looks like great pratice for the 939, if its not you need to learn real quick. those 939's run hot. So cooling is a must, if you want to keep it from frying.

Uh, you might want to set your computer on something else because if you've got those 7 80mm fans in the bottom of your case, they ain't exactly getting the proper airflow needed to do it's job.

here's a quick organization tip:

Move the wires from the PSU to behind the motherboard tray, then around to the front of the case, then back around to your drives. This will keep them away from the window and far more tidy for airflow's sake.

Good lord boy! The point of sleeving your wires is to make the ones that have to remain visible clean looking!

Wire your fans for 3-Pin, get a rheobus, tuck and hide the spare lines
from the PSU, and hide that snake pit thats in the smack middle of it!

Great places to hide your marijua...I mean...wires:
  • Between the motherboard and the tray behind it.
  • Ziptied/tucked behind the front bays.(Between right inner side of bay and right side panel.)
  • Between the right side panel and back of the motherboard tray.
  • Above the top optical drive.
  • Above the PSU, tightly wadded/ziptied.

One thing you could do is try to make a custom cpu fan for it......... the one i got for my sister, the stock 2500+ amd fan went right on (without the heatsink) i think i could only put 2 screws in it, but it was very secure

I was looking into getting a slot 1 fan. I was also thinking about getting a 370 slocket and maybe a faster P3.

i will try to post some pics of the cpu i did....... just to show you how you can make a fan for it....... you may not use it, but its really cheap and easy to do if you have a spare 50mm fan.. It should lower your temps a little
