| Apex Techie Wannabe | i go to a vocational school for computer science, and one of the reasons i joined was to be able to play games on computers, while still in school and getting school credits for it, all my friends said last yeat they spent about 60% of the year just playing games, but since they did that they made alot of restrictions on the computers this year. last year they had Windows XP Pro as the OS, this year they changed it to Windows 2000, im guessing for security reasons, anyway, they blocked us from installing anything unless you log on as the administrator, blocked the command prompt, blocked internet options, and uses websense to block certain websites. i was looking for somewhere i could get help with getting around these things and it brought me here. so if anyone knows anyway to unblock all that please reply, or if you need more info or something ask, and if this is the wrong place to find this stuff out please point me in the right direction. also, i can go to any site i want by using altavista's translator, but it sorta messes up, and they didnt really block internet options, they only blocked one way of getting to it, so those arent really the problem. AIM and MSN messager wont work cause of the proxy and i was wondering how i could get it to work, and when i said they blocked installing anything i meant stuff that you install from a cd (like a game), it asks who would you like to install this as, and you can enter name and pass, but you need administators, my teacher cant even install anything, cause last year he gave out his name and pass and let people install games, then he got in trouble, so they blocked teachers to | |

| First off, you really should write in sentences and paragraphs so we can understand what you are asking. Most of the members here will not read your gibberish. Second, you go to a school program so you can play games 60% of the time instead of applying yourself and learning something? Third, the IT department at the school decided to actually force you to apply yourself instead of playing games....Good For Them! Fourth, use that time to do something productive, like study, earn extra credit or help other students since your so fast. Fifth, Have A Good Day! ![]() | ||

| 1. Listen to Taz. 2. If you get your work done, talk with your instructor about getting privledges to play games. I was able to listen to music and slack off during my IT class, just ask Vertical_Zer0, as long as I didn't disrupt class or make the teacher feel stupid. | ||

Ow.......ow........ow.........ow.......*eyes going cross-eyed*........ow.......ow.......ow.......ow......ow ....... *Rob begins to suffer from a cerebral aneurism* Ow........ow.........ow.......ow........ow........ On a more serious note, Pat, I think that you need to buckle down some more and not worry about whether or not you can play solitaire in your spare time. School is meant for study time, not play time. Use the time you have to go over again what you have just learned. Besides, you're just going to give the LAN admins at your school headache upon headache. I talked about this in a different thread that some may remember. I'm not going to bring it up again, but I still feel the same way. The youth have a golden opportunity to learn something valuable; instead, they chose to finish the lesson with all possible speed to get back to their AIM, Messenger, YaHoo, etc. Pat, you see the overall theme to the responses to your question? Good advice from a wide range of individuals, from old to young and from all walks of life. Do yourself a favor and heed it well. Rob P.S. Almost forgot, welcome to PimpRig if you came here to learn about computer modding.

| Trying to get away with playing games at a school is ba...oh who am I kidding, I was a horrible student. All I did was sleep with most of the female teachers for straight A reports, who am I kidding to tell you not to play games on school computers. ![]() If you're going to do something to the school computers, do something constructive like load up folding at home on all of them. Make sure that you are folding for TekXoID, team 596. ![]() | ||

sorry about that, i dont normally write long paragraphs like that
im not the only one who finishes quickly, and most of the people there know what they are doing
last year he gave privliges and that class abused it, so now he wont trust us
read both, any other good books you know of?
hi its all good now anyway, sort of. they didnt block alot of things they should have. i can play all the old dooms, and any old console game (snes, n64, gba, nes) and thats good enough for me in my downtime
