Default dvd/rw

Ok guys it is getting time to make a decision. I am either thinking of getting a tdk indi 4x dvdr/RW or waiting for the geforcefx card. Currently I have a visiontek ti4200. Is a dvd burner worth it? anyone know a good site that talkes about them. And is it true that you can not copy dvd's as of right now because of encoded compywright material? I am not thinking of renting dvd's and copying them. It isf for backu purposes only. I pay for everything I have but my dvd's get scratched a lot because I loan them out and I also have a 2 year old that plays with everything. What do you guys think.

Well about copying dvd's there is a program. The bad thing is the motion picture association has taken the company to court to stop them from releasing it. The was a little write up in the December issue of MaximumPC. Thats the only program Ive heard of that will for sure let you make backup copies. As for burners Im not really sure. The only good reviews Ive really seen have been for the Pinoneer A108(or something like that and the new Sony that can burn dvd-r/-rw/+rw/ram(all the formats) not sure on its speed. The Pioneer is a 2x.

I think you would get more use out of a FX card than you would a DVD Burner. Think about it.

well it is true if I can not copy dvd's then I don't feel there is any point of having a dvd burner. I have a great cd burner and all my backups are on cd so just using a dvd for backup foldiers is kinda stupid.
