| I come home and read in pc gamer about how some stupid senators want to "fix" violent games. What is with our stupid senators making stupid laws? Instead of stopping real problems like putting more money in real schools instead of a military training place where we teach bad people to make the world worse (the School of the Americas in Georgia.) They make a dumb rule like I cant drive until IÂ’m 17 because teenagers cause too many accidents. How come in 1994 they banned the sale of new military style rifles? Criminals still get guns but now my dad cant buy a certain rifles new and the price of pre-ban stuff really went up. So we need to do something mainly about the video game thing. I think we should all write our senators and other elected people complaining that they shouldnÂ’t choose for us and it is up to the parents. Only buy coffee that is fair trade coffee (not corrupt coffee that was picked by unfairly paid workers who are slowly being picked off by the bad government that we helped to train) And if possible say that we should be able to drive motorized scooters (go-ped style) with the same rules as bikes or mopeds. | ||

| Violence in games is not the problem, it is that SPECIFIC person's problem if they cannot differentiate from real life and games. It is also probably the parent's fault for not raising their child to see the difference, though it's not entirely their fault but more the child's. So removing the games isn't the problem, it's not the guns either. It's the lack of giving a damn about their own damn kids that is the problem. My handful of change. | ||

| To be truthful, that's why I play. Lord forbid if I ever vented on a classmate, there'd be hell to pay not only with the school administation but with the parents as well. Though they don't care for the blood, but I shut that off when my younger (8 yr old) bro is around. | ||

| Lets just make the world like in the Book the Giver. Everyone is perfect, No one gets hurt and we are all just mindless drones that make no choices. While we are at it.. Lets kill all the imperfect people, Like the weak people, handicapped people, and mentally unstable people. then there will be no school shootings, no hate crimes.. no friggen sense of individualism. I'm just saying that games have no effect on anyone unless they have some stupid mental condition. IF YOU KNOW YOUR KID HAS A FRICKEN MENTAL PROBLEM THEN HE SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING GAMES LIKE DOOM AND EVERQUEST!! GOOD GOD! I SWEAR MOST PARENTS ARE FREAKIN' STUPID!!!!! | ||

| You wana talk about stupid laws ? How is this one: The state of Florida recently passed a law making it illeagal to have a loaded paintball gun in your car. Sounds almost reasonable at first, until you make that huge jump of logic and realize that they passed the law to stop two crimes, assualt (with a paintball gun, yes, they are dangerous), and vandalism. Problem is, both vandalism and assault are ALREADY crimes. So now, some dad out with his kids for a fun day of paintball try and sneak in one last game and still get home for dinner, (don't want moma mad by being late after she slaved over the stove while you all were playing), and on the way home, dad is driving a little fast. A cop stops dad for a warning, cause he was pushing it a little more then he shoulda, and what does the cop see ? A loaded paintball gun that his kid, or himself, forgot to unload cause they were in a rush. Now dad has commited a real crime. That is a stupid and very unnecessary law. You wana target bad laws, that is a perfect example of what you should try and stop. | ||

| I also dislike our senator's desision to "fix" videogames. I myself have been playing violent videogames for as long as I can remember. It just so happens that my favorite genre is first person shooters, which is known to be the most violent of genres, and let me tell you something, I did NOT have the sudden urge to go out shooting people in real life, did not, do not, and will not, ever. Why? Because I'm mentally sound, that's why. If I did feel like killing people, then the problem would not be violent videogames, but becasuse of my mental state. There are a number of factors that would make a person want to be a psychopathic killer, and one would NOT be violent videogames. For example, childhood. A person who is loved, cared for, and had family and friends that made him feel like he was worth something in the world would grow up to be happy, and over all, mentally sound, no matter what violent games he played. However, If he was neglected/abused/raped/taking drugs, then most likely he would grow up to hate and have the desire to kill people. You know, folks, it really pains me to see our own senators concentrate more on trivial things, like videogames, which would fall under entertainment, instead of looking into more serious things, like illegal drugs, and alcohol. That, ladies and gentlemen, is really stupid. Alcohol will most likely urge you to kill even more than violent videogames, so did senators "fix" alcohol? No, they did not. And what would happen if they did "fix" violent videogames? Will they "fix" R rated movies? Will they "fix" music with explicit lyrics? This is getting really out of hand. I wish the senators would leave videogames the hell alone, and going back to doing their job right. Sorry if this sounds long and long-winded, but I really felt like I had to put my own two cents on this one. Well anyways, peace out, fellow pimps ![]() | ||

| I agree with everyone. Violent games do not cause violent crimes. Nor do violent games influence people to commit heinous acts. Sure, it can be argued that unstable people are the product of their environment. But comon senators, 99.9% of the supposed crimes were committed by individuals that were emotionally unstable to begin with. I doubt games had anything to do with it. Wonder how these politicians can explain crimes and such that occured prior to mass media. Damn them all to hell! Anyway, the way I see it, politicians are always on the attack for one reason: to get attention. They know someone out their will listen. Even if people could care less, they get attention. It's almost like advertising themselves. Selfish i say! | ||

| They want kids to stop playing video games and go outside and play. Then the town of Henderson NV wants to pass a law making it illegal to play ball in the street. They say it inhibits the flow of traffic. So maybe the kids should just go inside and play some video games. Politicians!!! | ||

| Just feel lucky you dont live in Honduras, where this has happend already: The country's 128 lawmakers voted unanimously in favor of the new legislation. The president was expected to sign it into law. The proposal includes the prohibition of Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Turck, the House of the Dead, Duke Nukem, Shadowman, Quake, Instinct Killer, Doom, the Legacy of Kain, Street Fighter and Perfect Dark. The lawmakers also banned the sale of any toy that resembles a gun, knife or other weapon The problem is our most of our current culture revolves around self pity. Too often instead of someone taking resposiblity for their own action they will look for a scapegoat to blame. God forbit parents actully instill values in there children ![]() We live in a socity of blame and helplessness(for the most part). You dont have any money? Well then it must be the goverments fault and they should support you. Get a Job? Hell No! ![]() But anyway i veer of topic again(its late). Im sick and tired of the gaming industry being made a scapegoat off by polititions and the media. Regarding the Columbine shooting for example all you hear about is how these boys played violent video games all the time. What you dont here is the fact that Dylan Klebold's parents walked in on him when he had a shotgun under his trench coat and later saw a rifle butt sticking out of his bag. Eric Harris' father thought nothing of it when a gun shop called to tell him the clips he'd ordered had come in. He simply said he hadn't ordered any. You cant legslate what the true cause of the violence. | ||

| Today's video games are yesterdays books. How many books in history have been banned because someone in a powerful position in government didn't like them? Why anyone would think that a video game would make anyone more violent then someone who watches the news everyday is beyond me. Has anyone ever seen some of the footage that comes in from some of the worse off African countries? I guarantee that not one of those african warlords was influenced by a goddamn computer game. Next thing you know they'll outlaw fastfood cause people are getting fat and they don't understand how bad it is for them.... Soulless | ||
