Default Oddball question

One of those slots on your mobo, ACR I think, anyway the reversed PCI one... could you mount a PCI card in there backwards (ie. NIC)? It sorta pertains to modding a 5 1/4" into a network hub and if I put one of the ports facing inward it would help with an exterior wiring mess...

Thanks in advance.

I don't think its possible as each pin is different on the PCI cards. I think it'll short out the PCI slot and wreck it, possibly toasting the MOBO. They arn't meant to go in backwards.

Yes I understand, but ACR slots are 5V and PCI slots are 3.3V. Plug a NIC into it and say bye to the mobo.

No you can't. read this artical to help understand what that slot is for. It's very intresting on how they wanted to use this slot in the future, but it doesn't seam to wana happen still they want to put these slots on mobo's. http://www.inqst.com/articles/risercards/0515main.htm
If you don't want to read they are trying to get a standard for this slot to create a home networking solution maybe even more. But the down side is this slot has a direct port to the cpu to use cycles. Thats what everyone is having trouble with taking more away from the cpu.
